This position involves a wide variety of work for our high-profile and loyal clients. As a fire alarm technician trainee, you will be supported with your training to obtain a Fire Alarm Technician Qualification. This will result in you being involved in a wide variety of work, and we are seeking individuals who are adaptable and keen to learn. The successful applicant will offer: • Willingness to learn and train towards a Level 4 Fire Alarm Technician Qualification, • NZ Drivers Licence. • Good communication skills. • Be able to work autonomously and within a team. • New Zealand Resident or currently hold a New Zealand work visa. Aotea Electric Southern Ltd Fire Alarm Technician Trainee – Position Description POSITION PURPOSE To undertake the duties of Fire Alarm Technician Trainee at Aotea Electric Southern Ltd within the Fire Alarm division. To provide Fire Alarm services to a wide variety of projects, repairs, and installations. MAIN OBJECTIVES 1. To train as a Fire Alarm Technician while carrying out assigned work, being new installations, repairs, fault finding, and testing by the Fire Alarm Manager or delegated representative. 2. To develop and maintain professional relationships with trades staff, other contractors, Clients, and Aotea Electric Southern Ltd Management. 3. Ensure all work is undertaken to a high standard, compliant, safe, and efficient operation taking into account the financial goals for each contract/job. 4. To report regularly to the Fire Alarm Manager or delegated representative on progress, in particular achievement against milestones, potential risks, and the associated risk-mitigating strategies as required. COMPLIANCE To assist in ensuring compliance across the following categories Sub-Contractors engagement Building Act Aotea Group of companies Health and Safety Standards Health & Safety in Employment Act Current NZ Standards as per the EWRB requirements Current NZ Safety Wiring Regulations Current Fire Alarm Standards Accreditation and quality assurance Audits KEY TASKS/ACCOUNTABILITIES • Key Tasks o Receiving work as directed by the Fire Alarm Manager or delegated representative o Carry out Fire Alarm work to a high standard o To execute effective Time Management, Organisation, and Planning at all times. o Represent Aotea Group of Companies in day-to-day activities by wearing of correct and presentable uniform. o Maintain professional conduct in all areas of project communication both internal and external. o Assist with enforcing policies and procedures of Aotea Electric Southern Ltd o Regular Target Setting on individual jobs and reporting to Fire Alarm Manager as required o Assist with effective material purchasing based on actual requirements o Assist with completing As-Built documentation and commissioning as required o Assist with maintaining and enhancing customer relationships o Assist with developing new customers o Working alongside separate divisions in a team environment. o Assist in ensuring stock levels are kept to a minimum and managing stock returns o Quality Control as directed by the Fire Alarm Manager or delegated representative o Ensure timesheets are being completed accurately with the correct job numbers and given to Fire Alarm Manager or delegated representative on a timely basis o Follow all Aotea Electric Southern Ltd’s policies and procedures o To ensure that all company property (including vehicles) is kept to a standard in keeping with the Aotea Group of Companies policies and expectations. • Health and Safety o Ensuring Health and Safety is carried out as per the Aotea Electric Sothern’s Health and Safety Policy for all Aotea Staff and sub-contractors o Ensure you are aware and are complicit with specific site Health and Safety requirements. o Assist to ensure all Plant is compliant with Health and Safety guidelines o Undertake all on-site health & safety requirements and liaise with the Fire Alarm Manager o Carry out toolbox meetings and training as required • Financial o Be aware of the financial objectives of any priced work. (i.e. hours, materials, timeframes) o Report correctly and accurately on accounts/projects as required The above key tasks will form the basis for assessing performance in the role.
