ENGLISH VERSION Festival Digital creation & virtual worlds — — 4-8 April 2018 Forum des Halles forumdesimages.fr
3 The festival of digital creation and virtual worlds We’ve certainly set our sights high! In April 2018, the Paris Virtual Film Festival (PVFF) and I Love Transmedia will launch NewImages, a brand new festival dedicated to digital creation and virtual worlds. It’s an ambitious challenge, but one we’ve believed in for a long time. “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” These words from Nelson Mandela, who would have turned 100 this year (an event we will celebrate during the festival) certainly resonate with us. Us? Yes us, because the NewImages festival results from an alliance between two flagship events in their field: the Paris Virtual Film Festival, a pioneer of VR creation, with a focus on film; and I Love Transmedia, a key player and influencer in the digital revolution. Built on this partnership, NewImages is the answer to a common goal: to create a unique global event that celebrates digital creation in all its forms. This is why, true to its roots, the Forum des images will become a hub of creative innovation in 2018–a place of experimentation, discovery and sharing, where new images are finally given the attention they deserve. Over five days, visitors will discover an exciting program, encompassing all new forms of images, from virtual reality to holograms, video games, and YouTube creations. Held at the Forum des images and at other locations, NewImages is a chance for everyone to experience something new, and to reach out to new audiences. With a total of about 70 works in all categories, international competitions, a hologram show designed exclusively for the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth, a professional component featuring industry experts, international guests, a next-generation mixed reality design challenge, and a brand new VR app, the NewImages festival is a groundbreaking event that gives everyone the chance to embrace the digital creation of today… and tomorrow. The future starts here. Let’s embrace it. Enjoy the festival! Michaël Swierczynski NewImages Festival Director
