NEW INFORMATION: Contact Tracing Update: On Friday, September 3rd, Superintendent Gregory sent an email to the community with an update on contact tracing. Please see the attached letter for details. Dress Code (clarification on length of bottoms, and midriff): We have experienced a large number of dress code issues related to the length of bottoms (shorts, skirts, etc.). To clarify and reinforce, Pants, shorts, skirts, and dresses should appropriately cover a student's crotch and posterior, and must be at least middle knuckle at all times with arms at the side and shoulders down. The overriding determination to the appropriateness of shorts, skirts, and dresses will be they need to be modest and students are to be appropriately covered. Holes, fraying, etc. above middle knuckle length must have leggings underneath. Additionall , a student s midriff must be covered at all times, including during movement and while seated. Volley for a Cure T-Shirt Orders: We are extremely excited to be able to bring back our annual Volley for a Cure! Each year, your Lady Eagles volleyball team takes on our staff team, and helps support a great cause! In 2019, we raised over $1,600, which was split between two worthy cancer supporting organizations in NW Ohio. Please consider supporting Fassett Student Council and our efforts to involve our community, raise awareness and support cancer causes by ordering a t-shirt, attending the event, and/or donating items or funds. Please see the attached order form. REMINDERS: Academic Practice Boards: Each Fassett teacher places Academic Practice (AP) assignments for the week on their respective grade level s AP Board. Please use this valuable resource to ensure our child is sta ing up-to-date with his/her assignments. AP Boards can be found here on the OCS website, or via the links below. 7th Grade Academic Practice Board 8th Grade Academic Practice Board Agenda Books: Students are required to carry their agenda book with them at all times. Along with our Digital Hall Pass, agenda books are the only way a student will be issued a hall pass. Replacement agenda books cost $5.00. Attendance: Please contact the Fassett Attendance Hotline at 419.697.9911 if your child is going to be absent from school, or if he/she is in need of an early dismissal due to a medical appointment or family emergency. COVID-Related Vaccination Information: If your child has received the optional Covid vaccination, please bring a copy of proof of vaccine to school. Once he/she is fully vaccinated (two weeks from the last shot in series), it will help him/her avoid absences resulting from exposures to Covid 19. Please note, sick students who are determined to have Covid 19 symptoms may still be placed in quarantine regardless of vaccination status. Daily Schedule: 7:20 a.m.: Students permitted to enter the building. Please do not drop off students prior to 7:20 a.m. Upon entering, students will be provided breakfast (if eating breakfast at school), and proceed directly to Homeroom. 7:50 a.m.: Homeroom begins. Dress Code: Please take time to review the Dress Code section of the FJHS 2021-2022 School Handbook to ensure your child is in compliance with the school dress code. The following are issues frequently encountered: The length of an t pe of bottom (skirt, short, etc.) must be as long as the student s longest finger, hen the student s hands are placed at his/her side. If a bottom article of clothing has an t pe of holes and/or fraying, the holes and/or frays must either be covered or lo er than the student s longest finger, hen the student s hands are placed at his/her side. A student s midriff must be covered at all times. Tops must be long enough to cover the midriff during movement.
Drop-Off (Morning) and Pick-Up (Afternoon): Student safety is our top priority. To ensure the safety of everyone, as well as an effective and efficient process, if you drop-off and/or pick-up your student(s) from FJHS, please follow the route outlined in the attached map, and please adhere to drop-off and pick-up times outlined above. 8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip Meeting: We are excited to announce the annual D.C. Trip for 8th Graders is back! An informational parent meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7th, in the school auditorium. A meeting for those interested in being a chaperone on the trip will take place immediately following, at approximately 8:00 p.m. Electronic Devices: Students are permitted to bring their personal electronic device (i.e., cell phone) to school. If a student chooses to keep their personal electronic device with them during the school day, he/she must place the personal electronic device in their bookbag or the classroom cell phone holder. In each classroom, each student will be assigned a numbered pouch in which to place their cell phone. Explanation of Free and Reduced for 2021-2022 School Year Only: For the 2021-2022 school year, all students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Households with new students to the district including kindergarten students should fill out a free and reduced form. Households with an increase in income should reach out to Food Services prior to filling out an application. Households with a decrease in income that were not on free and reduced last year should fill out a free and reduced form. Households that were approved for free and reduced for years 2019-2020 and/or 2020-2021 do not need to fill out a new application. Filling out a new application could result in families losing benefits for the 2021-2022 school year. All applications from 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022 will be good for the first 30 days of the 2022-2023 school year. Fee waivers and EBT cards are based on free and reduced data from 2019-2020, 2020-2021,and 2021-2022 school years. Fassett Five: We are very excited to continue the Fassett Five this year! The Fassett Five is a way of structuring students to promote positive climate and positive behaviors, through purposeful building of relationships and fun and friendly competition. See details below: Students and teachers have been organized into 5 Houses (Black, Blue, Orange, Purple, and Red). Homeroom classes are randomly assigned by grade. Every teacher has 7th or 8th graders who are in their House for Homeroom. Students may be assigned to a Homeroom House teacher who is not on their regular class schedule. Through fun and friendly competitions and events, and positive behavior, Houses will accumulate points throughout the year, with incentives on a monthly and quarterly basis. The winning house will earn a big incentive at the end of the year! High Five cards are given to students, by staff members, to acknowledge Respectful, Responsible, and Ready behavior. High Five cards earned by students will contribute to the point total for their House. Once a month, houses will meet for a house meeting in the auditorium. Once a month we will hold an all-school meeting. These uplifting assemblies/pep rallies will be held to announce students of the month, update students on House points, and possibly give away prizes. Locks and Lockers: All Fassett students are required to place a school-issued lock on their locker. Locks are available for $6.00, in the school office. Picture Retakes: if you did not have your picture taken on Orientation Day, picture retakes will take place on Tuesday, September 21st. PBIS at Fassett: As part of our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) effort at Fassett, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready as our primary expectations for positive behavior. Our Matrix of Expectations provides students a framework of guidance on what it means to Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready in at Fassett. We use High Fi e ca d to acknowledge students who are meeting these expectations. Each Friday, student cards are drawn. These Eagle of he Week will be rewarded with a Friday lunch with a friend. Please take time to review the attached Matrix of Expectations with your student(s), and encourage him/her to show their Eagle Pride by Being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready in all they do! Thank you for your support! School Handbook: Please take time to review the FJHS 2021-2022 handbook here.
