Entering the 2019 SA Interschools Snowsports Championships Entering the event is a 2 step process; 1) REGISTRATION:- First of all, each school will need to nominate a school “Manager”, who will manage the registrations for your school through the National Interschools Website: https://entryinterschools.com.au There are staff associated with this system who will be able to support you through the process should you require any assistance. 2) PAYMENT:- After you have registered for the event through the National Interschools site, your school’s manager will be emailed to following up with payment for the events. School Based & Team Entries close July 2nd 2019 Which Division am I in? NOTE: Achieving a podium finish at SA Interschool Championships may qualify you for entry to the National Interschool Championships at Mt Buller, VIC in September. Forming a (Race) Team—what are we competing for? Apart from the week being filled with fun and a great way to make new friends…. Interschools competition is an exciting and invigorating team sport and SASKI’s aim is to encourage ever-more school/ group participation. Trophies are awarded to Schools with the greatest combined results acquired during the competitions. Male and female team’s times for each school (both secondary and primary categories); determine the number of points awarded. Medals are awarded to first, second and third place getters in each division. Individual trophies are also awarded to the fastest primary and secondary school male and female skier and boarder. Even as a beginner racer, participants make an invaluable part of a team! For ski teams, 3 or 4 participants are required, and for snowboarding 2 or 3 participants are required. The best 3 results for skiing and the best 2 results for boarding count, so….as long as you cross the finish line you could earn your team some winning times! Your nominated schools manager (who enters you on the Interschools Website) will manage the building of teams. 2019 SASKI Planner www.skifalls.com.au Page 7 .
Booking Tips and Hints First time to the snow? No worries! Visit our handy online guide to see a helpful checklist to assist in making your first time visiting Falls Creek or the snow just that little bit easier: https://www.skifalls.com.au/discover-falls-creek/plan-your-trip Book early Booking accommodation early can be essential to getting the best deal and price available. Falls Creek is a very busy little town that often runs at 100% capacity for accommodation over the busy periods. As with accommodation and resort entry, lift tickets can be cheaper when bought online prior to the date. Visit the Falls Creek website to book yours at www.fallscreek.com.au Allow plenty of time to get to Falls Creek As you make your way to Falls Creek, you will be passing through some amazing areas known for their regional produce and amazing wines! Take your time and make the journey part of you adventure! We also recommend you stop for a break, stretch your legs and let the kids have a run around the park at Mt Beauty before making your final ascent onto the mountain. Falls Creek (as with most Alpine Resorts) is well known for both amazing blue-bird days…and typical winter weather! During July, snowfall to relatively low elevations can often be experienced, so ensure that you leave yourself enough time to get up the beautiful (and windy) road. Please remember that it’s a legal requirement for all vehicles entering the resort to carry snow-chains. These are available for hire from service stations in Mt Beauty. While it’s important you know how to fit your chains prior to arrival, (just in case they’re needed) the Resort Management Board will this year have staff manning most chain-fitting bays who will be happy to assist you if you’re having trouble. Parking and Oversnow transfers On entering the resort, you will be greeted by parking attendants who will direct you. As Falls Creek is a ‘Ski in, Ski out’ resort, no cars are permitted within the village during the snow season. Access to your accommodation will most likely require oversnow transfer. Be ready to unload your luggage at the ’ATS’ (Arrival Transfer Station), then one person to follow the parking attendant to your parking location. The attendant will then shuttle you back to the ATS to meet up with your party for the final leg of your long journey….to your accommodation. What else is going on around the Resort that week? To see what other events and activities are going on this week and throughout the season, visit our What’s On section on our website at https://www.skifalls.com.au/whats-on Stay informed while in resort Download the free Falls Creek App onto your mobile phone before you leave home. The App is used by resort officials to communicate quickly to guests within the ski field critical information such as deteriorating weather conditions, unexpected lift or road closures. The App also has a host of other cool features too, so download and familiarise yourself with it today! 2019 SASKI Planner www.skifalls.com.au Page 8 .
