4 GENERAL INFORMATION 5 GENERAL INFORMATION PARK LOCATIONS Executive Director Letter Memorial Park Beach-Oak Park 132 Oak Avenue Beach and Oak Avenues It has been incredible to experience such an active and fun summer! Our creative staff worked diligently to provide a brand new and exciting summer camp experience for our community. We also re-opened Afternoon Antics to record numbers at Robinhood and Stone Monroe. Our parks staff Robinhood Park William G. Yena Park continues to work on reinvigorating our parks by adding native landscaping and making long overdue 30th and Robinhood Lane 29th and Harrison Avenue improvements to masonry and landscaping beds. Hanesworth Park Stone-Monroe Park Very soon, the Community Park District will be opening the new Memorial Park Multi-Use Courts and 26th and Barnsdale Road Stone and Monroe Avenue our community will have access to a state-of-the outdoor gym, three new pickleball courts, playground games, and renovated tennis courts. We are so grateful for the community support for this project and would like to send a special thank you to Strive La Grange Park and the Village of La Grange Park for helping to make these new opportunities a reality. Please see page ____ for more information. Our board and staff are gearing up to bring you and your families a wide range of healthy and fun activities to enjoy throughout the fall. This season, we are bringing back preschool enrichment pro- grams, Senior Club, Community Footlight Players performances, and the Scarecrow Decorating Contest! We are also offering new pickleball classes and so much more. As the weather cools, and more programming moves inside, the Community Park District will continue the stringent cleaning protocol we have put in place, including the use of our hydroxyl radical generator. With your help, we can continue to keep our community safe from COVID-19 and lessen the severity of the cold and flu season. Please remember the basics: Keep those hands clean! We will continue to incorporate frequent hand washing or sanitizing, especially in our early childhood programs. Please remember to wash your hands before and after spending time at the recreation center, playground, or attending a program. Stay home if you’re not feeling well This rule isn’t going away. Thanks to the care and responsibility of our program participants and parents, not only have we nearly eliminated dangerous viral exposure in our programming, but we have also seen an incredible reduction in the common cold and flu in our classrooms. If you or someone in your household is not feeling well, please stay home. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Our Memorial is un- like many memorials in that it will continue to grow each year as memorial bricks are purchased and placed in the Memorial Plaza. The Community Park District of La Grange Park’s Veterans Memorial was built to honor ALL active duty and military veterans whether they served in times of conflict or times of peace. We feel that it is important to recognize all of our men and women who have served or are now serving because they never knew what tomorrow would bring as they protected America. There is no better way to honor your favorite active duty or military veteran than by placing a brick in his or her honor in our Plaza. Memorial bricks can be purchased by submitting an order form found on the next page. You can also visit our website and download the form here. If you have any questions you can call the park district office at 708-354-4580 and speak with Amanda Kennedy. In response to community requests, donors who have purchased a memorial brick for the plaza will have the opportunity to buy a replica brick that can be given as a gift or kept for their own special memorial. Special prices for replica bricks are as follows: 4x8 Bricks are $60.00 and 8x8 Bricks are $75.00. Brick orders are placed once during the year on Janu- ary 31st as the deadline for all orders. A replica brick order form is available on our web- site at communityparkdistrict.org
