Summary: A female astronaut tries to reconnect with her family after spending a
                       year in outer space.

Ethan Woods, a small child, hears a
coughing and hacking noise. Emily is
vomiting into the toilet. She stands, gasp-
ing, and goes to wash her face. He calls
her mom and asks if she’s too sick to
come to the party. She says her body is
just adjusting to being back. She touches
her bathroom mirror and a news program
pops up with a story on a blackout as she
                                                         brushes her teeth.
At the party, Molly tells her friends
that she hasn’t had a drink in 13 months.
Her doctor, Sam Barton, says no drinks
until the tests come back. John, Emily’s husband, runs to chastise Ethan for pushing another
child down over a tool. His dad says if he acts out again, he’ll have to leave the party. Molly smiles
at Ethan as he goes back to play.
John tells Molly to go lie down and says she must be tired but she says she needs to get back
to the routine. She heads outside to take out the trash — it’s a weird futuristic plastic cube that
does some off processing. She sees someone in the driveway and hears a noise behind her. When
she looks back, the person is gone. She goes back in.
Ethan tells his dad he was mad and he asks how he would feel if he really hurt Jake. Ethan
says his mom is mad and says it’s different with her. John says she just has to get used to being
back and says she was up there alone for a long time. He tells Ethan to get some sleep and he
says he thinks he needs a flip. John checks the child’s battery and says he’s right.
John changes it out. The kid isn’t a kid — he’s some sort of android thing. Disturbing... He
tells Ethan he leaves him and tucks the child in for the night. Molly is in the shower and John
joins her there. They kiss. Later she creeps into Ethan’s room and watches him. She looks at his
planet mobile spinning above his bed then goes downstairs.
She pulls out a photo album with pictures of her and another astronaut. It looks like they
were in love, but it’s not her husband in the photos. He asks her what brought this on and she
says she had a dream. He asks if she dreams about Marcus much. He says he still thinks about

him. John says if Marcus was still alive, they wouldn’t have met and there would be no Ethan
because she would still be with him.
Molly says she thinks we always end up where we’re supposed to and kisses him. Next day,
he and Ethan drive in their driverless car to Yasumoto Corporation. John tells Ethan that when
he talks about him today, he’ll talk about how he was created and says he doesn’t want to think
of himself as less than real. Julie is there and hugs Ethan then asks John if he’s nervous. He
says it’s a walk in the park.
Molly goes to see her doctor — Sam. She confirms that she was alone in the space station
for the whole 13 months. She asks if an international crew docked and then says she doesn’t
understand how but Molly is pregnant. Molly says that’s not possible. She thinks back to her
mission. We see her alone on the Seraphim Station conducting tests and running tasks.
She curses and a robotic voice tells her to put $5 in the swear jar. She says that some plant
samples are contaminated. The voice tells her she has a v-cron coming in. We see Ethan and
John on the screen talking to her and telling her that Ethan has been accepted into a school but
then it’s interrupted by a solar flare. We see the lights flash. Ben, her robot voice, says he’ll try
again.
The lights go off, alarms sound and Ben doesn’t respond to her voice commands. She looks
around and grabs some tools then heads up to another level where she floats into a bay. She
checks equipment status and goes to a screen. She taps some buttons then heads to a breaker
area and flips some switches. The lights come back on. She sees someone through the bay door.
It’s Marcus. He looks at her. He draws on the frost of the glass ”Help Me.” She stares in horror.
Sam shows her the lab report that confirms that she’s definitely pregnant. Molly says she
made a mistake but Sam says she ran all the tests twice. Molly says even if there was someone
else, she’s infertile and tried for years before giving up. She tells Sam she can’t put it in the
report and Sam says it has to go to Director Sparks. Molly says she’s terrified she’ll end up in
quarantine and asks for time before she has to tell John.
John gives his speech on the Humanichs program on robotics. He says we all know robots
don’t have that human factor. He talks about task androids at banks and Med-Assist robots
that can do functions but lack the emotions that people want. He says we need a program that
processes day to day human experience not ones and zeroes. He introduces them to his son
Ethan. Ethan comes onstage and waves at everyone.
Molly stares at a photo of an astronaut, Kryger, a friend of her who has passed on. Gordon
Kern, the new deputy director of the agency, introduces himself. He says her logs are good for
the mission. He says he has one question but asks her to wait for Director Sparks and leaves her
in a room.
John says people want to know what will stop the uprising if everyone uses Humanichs. He
says absolutely nothing would stop it but says the brain of this robot learns like the mind of
a child — right from wrong. Femi Dodd asks about an emergency protocol and he thinks she
means for resting mode, but she means for termination. He asks if she has a child and she says
she has a daughter.
He asks if she has a plan to kill her and she says her daughter is human. She says her
daughter has a soul and John says there is no such thing. He says it’s a cumulative effect of a
lifetime of experiences. She says many people believe there is more to people than science can
explain and he says those people are idiots. She says she’s one of those idiots and he says he
feels sorry for her.
He gets angry at Femi and says he won’t apologize for not having a plan to kill his son. The
other investors are concerned that there are no failsafes built in when things go wrong and John
says that not every human child turns out all right eitehr but we don’t kill them. He’s getting
very defensive about his program.
Molly explains to Sparks and Kern that the power came back on after the event. She says
security and life support came right back on but communication was down for 13 hours and she
spent most of that time trying to bring the systems back online but couldn’t. She says she slept
for three hours and when she woke the system was back up. They ask if anything happened
during the solar flare.
Kern says there was footage deleted during the incident. She says she ordinarily makes copy
of the footage because there have been some system deletions but when she went to make the
copy, she accidentally deleted it. Sparks says as soon as her medical reports come in with a

couple of psychiatric tests they can close it. He says that after what happened with Kryger, it’s
agency protocol. Sparks tells her that she was missed and is glad to have her back.
Sparks heads to a secret lab where there is a body in a tank. The goo is drained off as Sparks
is told that he is ready. They rinse him off and we see it’s a man. Sparks says — welcome back
Mr Yasumoto. Sparks says there was an anomaly on the Seraphim mission and Yasumoto says
it’s like Kryger. Sparks says that unlike with Kryger there is missing security footage.
He says the astronaut accidentally deleted the footage but he doesn’t believe her. Yasumoto
asks why not and Sparks says because she doesn’t make those kinds of mistakes. Yasumoto
says this could be everything and tells him to stay close to her. Sparks says that John made
a presentation to his board but his request for funding was denied. He suggests that doing
something about this may make it easier to stay close to them.
John and Ethan put together a model of a space station. Once complete, it rises into the air.
John gets a call from Yasumoto Corp. He goes back the next day and is escorted to Yasumoto’s
private offices. Yasumoto introduces himself. John tells him about Ethan and says he’s critical
to the Humanichs mission. He says he and Molly were told they would never have a child.
He says this left a hole in their life. Yasumoto asks if it’s a cure for childlessness and John
says adoption and surrogacy are options, but not everyone can do this. John says filling this void
is important. Yasumoto says this raises a lot of questions. He says it’s too murky for the board to
invest in because they have shareholder accountability. But he says that he would like to invest
privately since that’s a different matter.
At home, Molly watches Ethan as he stares at himself in the mirror making faces at himself.
She says she has an important mission he can help with. She says it’s a search. Molly and Ethan
are in the park eating ice cream. He says he likes hers better and they switch. A guy in the park
hands her a balloon and says it was paid for. She asks by who and he says the guy is gone. There
is a note that reads — I know what happened to you. Contact you soon.
Ethan drops his ice cream cone and then has a fit. He demands that she give him another
cone then he runs off at top speed. She gives chase and he disappears into the woods. She follows
calling his name then finds him with a bird. He tells her it was like that when he found it. She
doesn’t look so sure. He tells her that her hair looks pretty. Creepy changing of gears...
Molly tells John that Ethan has changed and not for the better. John says that’s the conse-
quence of her being gone for so long. He tells her that she’s pulling away from them. She says
they have always seen Ethan differently. She tells him that he looked at her with hate in his eyes.
John says Ethan loves her and she says he is programmed to approximate love, but it’s not love.
John says to figure it out because that kid is as close to a child they will ever have. He tells her
he got funding from Yasumoto and will start work immediately.
We see Molly at the Seraphim Station staring at Marcus then covering her eyes and looking
away. She touches her hand to a hot light to make sure she’s awake then closes her eyes and
then looks back. He’s still there. She starts her camera recording and goes to the hatch then
opens it. She floats back away and stares at him. She speaks his name and he walks closer. He
stares at her.
She says hello and he finally says hello. She asks if he needs help and he says help. He’s just
mimicking her and she asks what she can do. He says do. He walks closer and reaches out to
touch her. She says it’s okay and he says okay. He touches her face and she leans into his hand.
He touches her body and runs his finger down to her abdomen. She reaches out to touch him
and he says it’s okay.
They touch each others face and he repeats it’s okay over and over. She closes her eyes, crying
as he pulls her closer. Back home, Molly is leaving when John apologizes to her about the prior
day. She says he said nothing that wasn’t true. He says it may be bad timing for the Yasumoto
deal and she says they’ll make it work. She congratulates him and they kiss, laughing.
Molly is told at her therapy session that reentry can be a challenge especially after a long
period of time. She tells Molly she wants the office to be a sanctuary for her. She says Kryger
didn’t have this and it’s important. She says people think lack of attention to his metnal state
was a factor in his suicide. Yasumoto and Sparks are both watching the meeting.
She asks what Molly wants to share about her physical and emotional bearings. We see Molly
wake on Seraphim to alarms going off. She shuts off the alarms and the hatches to other areas.
She starts the playback on her recording device. We don’t see Marcus on the footage she recorded.
She checks the footage from another camera and sees only herself.

She reaches out like she’s touching something but there is nothing and no one there. Just
her. She deletes the footage in a panic from both the feeds that showed her. We see Molly heading
onto her back porch. She walks out to the trash bin and looks down the alley. She sees the figure
there again. He steps forward and we see it’s Kryger. She’s shocked. She calls his name and he
says it’s him and he’s real.
He says it’s not like on the Seraphim. He tells her she’s not hallucinating and she says every-
one thinks he’s dead. He says he shouldn’t have come. He tells her not to trust anyone and says
he’ll come back for her. He creeps away as John calls Molly’s name.

Summary: Sam hopes to learn more of Molly’s mysterious pregnancy by perform-
ing an ultrasound scan. Kryger reveals details from his secret solo
                       mission.

Molly sleeps alone. She wakes to a
strange noise. It sounds like a heartbeat
of sorts. She goes downstairs and sees it’s
just sneakers in the drier. She’s relieved.
John is there and asks if she’s okay and
she says she’s still fuzzy. He hands her
coffee and she says the awful coffee is the
hardest thing about space. He laughs at
her. She tells him to wake Ethan while
she makes breakfast. She turns off the
noisy drier. John says Ethan has a birth-
day party to go to and he got a video game
for him to take. He tells her they’re going
out to a fancy lunch to celebrate.
He says he has a schedule for her to
bring Ethan to meet him and Yasumoto.
She fixes his tie and says to look sharp when Ethan comes in and asks what the phrase means.
At the space agency, Sam looks at some of Molly’s medical scans. Sparks approaches her and
asks for Molly’s test results. She says tomorrow at the latest. He thanks her and heads off. Sam
looks nervous.
At Yasumoto Tower, John comes into their new lab and Julie greets him. She’s thrilled with
the new lab and came in at 5 to set up. The crew is all there and Julie takes him to his desk.
He’s got an amazing window view and is stunned. Julie asks what he said to Yasumoto to turn it
around. Femi Dodd is there and asks him the same thing.
Ethan plays a 3D building game and Molly asks when he got so good. He says he played a lot
with Dad and Julie while she was gone. He asks her to play and she adds a piece and it tumbles
to the ground. He tells her it takes patience. She says she has to go get ready for Andrew’s party
and he says the likes the museum. She says it was her favorite place as a kid. He likes if space
is her favorite place now but she says it’s at home with him.
John explains to Femi that Humanichs begin life in the lab and they allow the programmed
brain to develop before it is put into a body. She’s skeptical and one of the lab techs laughingly
tells her its the rise of the machines. Femi asks what happens to humans when we develop

personal connections to the machines. John tells her that she should spend some time with his
son to see. She says she’s not there to be convinced, she’s there to tell him that she’s not going
to take it lying down that Yasumoto went around the board.
Molly hears the heartbeat sound again and heads back downstairs. It’s not the drier this time
— it’s standing open. She gets a pain in her abdomen and hunches over. She looks up and sees
Marcus standing there. He tells her it’s okay then repeats the phrase. Julie is monitoring Ethan’s
brainwaves and notices them intensify. John thinks he and Molly are at the museum and he’s
being stimulated. They’re not.
He’s downstairs looking at his mom who has passed out on the kitchen floor. A weird shape of
concentric circles pushes up out of her abdomen and then fades back down into it. Ethan sees
this. She comes to and tells him she’s okay and gives him a hug. Later, at the museum, Molly
tells Ethan to catch up with the other kids. The elephant exhibit is really cool and animatronic.
The elephant comes out and stomps toward the kids trumpeting. All run away except for
Ethan. He steps forward, curious until the pixelated elephant breaks up. Andrew’s mom asks
about Ethan starting school and if it was hard to get him in. She says John was working with
the school. Sam shows up and Molly thanks her for sneaking out to meet her.
She tells Sam about the pounding noise, passing out and a vision. She tells Sam she doesn’t
know if she can trust Sparks. She says Harmon is alive and Sam doesn’t believe her. She tells
Sam that Harmon faked his death because of them. She says there were abnormalities on his
brain scans and says Molly has the same ones. She says whatever happened to Harmon is
happening to her.
Molly wonders if this could be a hysterical pregnancy. She tells Sam she’s clearly infertile and
says she needs an ultrasound to know for sure. Sam agrees but says she needs to find a facility
where she can do it off the books. One of the parents comes and tells Molly they lost track of
Ethan. She leaves Sam and goes to look for him. He’s in the evolution exhibit when a robot rolls
up and tells him to step back because it’s not hands-on.
She asks if he wants to know about Neanderthals and he says yes so she gives him a mini
lecture on extinction and survival of the fittest. She says Homo Sapiens were better able to
survive and tells Ethan he is one. He says he’s not. The robot apologizes and asks what species
he is. He introduces the robot to Molly and she pulls him away. She tells him he shouldn’t run
off and that he worried her. He says Dad says the same thing and asks her not to tell him.
He asks if it’s a secret and she says sort of. He tells her that Dad says secrets are mean and
she says they can be but you can also use them sometimes not to worry people. She tells him
his Dad would be worried to hear that he ran off and that she fell down at the house. He asks if
she’s okay and she says she is. They each agree to keep their secrets. They head off. Harmon is
there and watches them from an upper gallery.
We see him in the Seraphim Station when he was on his shift. The robot voice, Ben, tells him
there’s a solar flare and an energy surge. The lights flake and Ben stops responding. Harmon
grabs a flashlight and goes into another bay. It’s the same one where Molly saw Marcus. He sees
wet footprints on the floor and then sees a woman there. It’s his mother. He calls out to her and
she steps closer to him.

after he confronts her about her distant behavior. Meanwhile, John
and Molly face parents who are suspicious of Ethan when he goes to
                       school for the first time.

Tonight’s episode begins with Molly lying
in bed with John while he is sleeping, she
has a flashback to when she and John’s
fertility rounds failed and they think they

her flash back, John introduces her to
Ethan and suggests that they keep him
and raise him together as their child.
John wakes up, and asks Molly to take
the morning off with him, he wants to
throw her a birthday party since she was
gone during her actual birthday. Molly
agrees, and John gets up to get Ethan
ready for orientation at his school, while
Molly heads out for her morning jog.
John leaves Ethan home with Gina, and Ethan promises him he won’t go outside and won’t
answer the door. As soon as John is gone, Ethan rushes out to the backyard and begins building
something out of a broom and duct tape.
Molly runs in to Alan, and he tells her she is right. He tells her there was a covert medical
experiment done while she was in space, and doctors reversed her ovulation and implanted her
own eggs which they seized from a fertility clinic she went to when she was trying to have a baby.
Alan says the baby she is carrying is her’s and John’s. Alan also is concerned because she is
experiencing the same hallucinations that Marcus was before he killed himself, and he wants
her to go to the hospital for a few days so that they can observe her.
Later, John and Molly take Ethan to orientation at his new school. After Ethan heads in to
school, the principal stops him and says that some of the parents have some questions for him.
John reassures them that Ethan isn’t dangerous. Molly tells them that Ethan is ”just different”
and they ”don’t have to be afraid of different.”

Molly fills Sam in on what Alan told him about the ”covert medical experiment” and Sam
assures her that there was no way any one in the medical department impregnated her with
John’s eggs while she was in space. Molly decides to go find Harmon to see if they did any testing
on him while he was in space. She finds his trailer deserted, and a creepy drawing all over the
walls inside the trailer.
Molly heads to the school later in the afternoon with John to pick up Ethan. He emerges from
the school unscathed, and even made friends with one of the student whose parents were afraid
he was dangerous.
Molly’s birthday party is in full swing, Sam arrives and Molly rushes upstairs with her. Sam
takes a sample of her blood in a test tube and promises to conduct a DNA test, and she says she
will be back in two days. After Sam leaves, Molly’s drops to the floor in pain and has a vision of
Marcus.
Sam arrives at the lab, but a guard refuses to let her down the hallway. He says there has
been a chemical spill and no one is allowed in the wing. Sam argues that she just needs to in to
her office really quick, but the guard doesn’t budge.
Molly’s party is breaking up, and the guests are leaving. She tells John that she wants to say
good-bye to Marcus’s friend Tim. John informs her that Tim isn’t at the party, but she insists he
is. She runs through the house yelling his name. Molly looks at a picture she took earlier that
night with Tim by her side, and realizes that he never showed up in the picture, and she had
imagined him.
After the guests leave Molly has a breakdown and confesses to John that she seen Marcus
on the ship, and she ”can’t keep going on like this.” She packs her bags and calls Alan to come
pick her up and take her in to the hospital. John argues that she shouldn’t trust him, but Molly
thinks that Alan is on her side.
Sam is still trying to get in to her office, she sneaks around the hallway and sees agents
cleaning out her entire office and stealing all of her files. She calls John frantically and asks
where Molly is, and John says that Alan took her. Sam texts Molly and tells her to ”get out of the
car.” Molly manages to overpower Alan and jump out of the car and starts running home. John
picks her up in the road and they make a getaway. A few moments later Alan and a squad of
men arrive at John and Molly’s house with guns drawn, but the house is already empty.

Molly and John arrive at her Dad’s house with Ethan, he is thrilled to see them. John informs
him that they will only be staying with him for a day.
Meanwhile, Sam is being held in an interrogation room. She asks the guard when she can
leave and he says not until after she speaks to Sparks. She goes to the bathroom and tries to
dump the sample of Molly’s blood in the toilet. Sparks and the guard barge in and catch her.
Sparks calls Yasumoto and informs him about the blood sample, he knows Molly is trying to
determine the paternity of the baby. Yasumoto tells Sparks to ”take care of” Sam Barton.
Molly’s Dad’s dog freaks out when he sees her and barks at her and bites her hand. Her Dad
has no idea what came over the dog, he never acts like that. While her Dad is bandaging up her
hand he reassures her that he hasn’t had a drink in years and he is clean and sober. Molly takes
Ethan upstairs to her old bedroom and tells him that it is his room now. Meanwhile, Sparks
receives news that Molly and John ran to the island where her Dad lives.

Later Molly asks her Dad to take Ethan in to town by himself and have dinner with him.
She says that she and John need to have some alone time because it has been crazy since her
reentry. Her Dad agrees and doesn’t think anything is out of the norm.
Sparks is questioning Sam Barton, he looks through her cell phone and learns that she tipped
her off and told her to ”get out of the car.” Sparks reveals that he knows about Sam’s brother and
the fact that she pulled some strings and got his brother out of a murder charge. Sam says that
her brother is stable and is recovering now, she begs Sparks to ”leave her brother out of this.”
Sparks calls his men and tells them that Sam Barton won’t be a problem anymore, and tells
them to make a move on Molly. Back at the island, Ethan is out to dinner with his grandpa. John
is taking a sample of Molly’s blood and they are going to conduct a DNA test of their own. While
he is drawing Molly’s blood she has another hallucination of Marcus.
Ethan and his grandpa return home, and while his grandpa is unchaining the gate, Ethan
disappears out of the back seat of the truck. A man is running through the woods with him
holding his hand over his mouth so that he can’t scream. Ethan’s grandpa tells Molly and John
that Ethan ran away. They head out in the woods to search for him, unbeknownst to them there
is an entire tactical team out in the woods with him. The men take Ethan out to a clearing
and zap him with a tool, draining the life from him. Meanwhile John is fighting with the police
because they refuse to help when they learn that Ethan is a robot. He and Molly’s dad end up
thrown in to a jail cell.
Molly finds Ethan lying in the clearing life less and she picks him up and tries to run with
him, but a helicopter begins hovering above her. Molly wakes up and is strapped down to a bed.
A few doctors are hovering over her in hazmat suits. Molly manages to get loose and stabs the
doctor with a syringe, she runs from the room and falls in to another room full of doctors and
collapses. Yasumoto watches as his men hoist Molly up on to an operating table.
Sparks and Gordon are inside of Molly’s Dad’s house. Gordon informs him that all of their
personnel are cleared off from the island. Sparks finds the DNA test Molly and John had just
completed, he pushes the button to see the results.
Yasumoto’s men have Molly strapped down to the operating table. She is in and out of con-
sciousness as a laser slices her stomach open.

Summary: John begins to doubt Molly’s mental state when the validity of her
pregnancy is questioned. Meanwhile, Ethan suffers a serious setback,
and John and Julie disagree over how to care for him.

mare when the shock of Marcus’s death
shocked her awake for a few moments.
                                                       One that is ongoing!
John and the rescue team had found
Molly and Ethan unconscious on the
ground’s floors. And by time a medical
team could be reached — the nurse on
the site reportedly couldn’t detect any
signs of a fetal heartbeat. So Molly ended up having to be rushed to the hospital back on the
mainland.
Then when she did come to — she was left having to explain to John that ”they” did something
to her. That these people she keeps talking about did something to her baby. Molly was anxious
by having to defend herself that she had to be sedated for her health before she could stress
herself any further. However, with her under sedation, there wasn’t anyone available to provide
a reasonably explanation in what happened to Ethan. John’s diagnosis is that the little boy’s
system must have shut down after a fall or perhaps a scare. While Julie on the other hand
remains skeptical. She’s wondering how negligent could John have been for something to happen
to Ethan. They both know how the precious the little boy.
But if John is negligent with anyone then it’s with Molly. Her scans came back and showed
that she was never pregnant. And Molly knows that for the lie it is. She was pregnant and so she
suspects something happened to her during the six hours she was missing until John found her
out in the woods.
And seeing as her scans won’t show that she was in fact pregnant even if that’s no longer the
case now then she thought she could at most get validation from Sam of all people. Although
when she brought John to her friend — her trust appeared to have been misplaced.

They got to Sam just as they got to Molly’s baby. Sparks had threatened her and removed
Molly’s baby. Though for now the baby appears to be safe and oddly thriving since being removed
from its mother.
All of Sparks’ machinations have left John, in the meantime, reluctantly suspecting his wife.
The doctor back at the hospital had told him that Molly could have imagined her pregnancy. And
for a while John wanted to deny it but then small bits of doubt started to weave itself into his
head. So he turned to Ethan for answers. Ethan was his last resort on finding out the truth and
that made John push Ethan into getting better possibly to Ethan’s own detriment.
And that’s when Julie stepped in. She told him that he couldn’t just do whatever he wanted
with Ethan. Even it was for Molly. Julie had never liked the way he merely gave the little boy to
his wife rather than stick to their original plan of finding a family for him.
John stopped her rant after that because apparently she needed some reminding. Even
though they built Ethan together that doesn’t change the fact she works for him and they are
not equal partners. Hence it’s not her place to reprimand or tell him what’s best for Ethan. Only
and his wife, Ethan’s mother, will make the decisions.
Yet he did change his mind about pushing Ethan before his body had healed. John wouldn’t
be able to bare it if his actions caused Ethan to never get better so he laid off from trying to
maneuver around Ethan’s frail system. But that left him and his wife without the answers they
needed. That is until Molly remembered when she got bitten by the dog. Her blood sample from
that instance, one Sparks is completely unaware of, could very well show that she was pregnant.
And she was right.
John helped her break into the laboratory where her sample was still being held and that gave
her the information that she was pregnant. Though the DNA showed that the baby was part her
and part something neither she nor John recognized — a foreign substance. So they also know
that whatever the baby is — John didn’t help produce it.
People have been lying to them and the only way they can survive being watched/used is for
them to pretend that Molly can accept her pregnancy was a fake. So that’s exactly what they did.
She returned to work and put on a big smile for Sparks. All in the name of keeping her and her
family safe.
And as for Ethan, he awoke on his own and luckily he didn’t remember what happened to
make him shut down. So his parents don’t have to worry about getting him to lie for them.
Molly got back the footage of when she met ”Marcus”. She used a different algorithm on it to
see if she possibly missed something that day and what she saw, thanks to Dany, was more than
just empty space this time. There was some kind of live being of light moving towards her in the
footage. That was Marcus!

and her husband came to that conclusion

done to it after he removed the fetus (if

what happened to the ”baby” they lost — their son Ethan has also shown some worrisome
behavior. He had a nightmare and though that’s typical common among young children — it
wasn’t built into Ethan’s mechanical system. He wasn’t supposed to be that human so John
never programmed him to dream!
So rather than play the proud papa at his son’s recent advancement — John wants to take
the little boy back to the lab for a quick study. Although Molly wasn’t all that happy about it.
She sometimes forgets Ethan is an AI and merely thinks of him as a little boy — her little boy in
particular. Hence it took some convincing on John’s part to get her to walk away from that fight.
He gave her a listening device. Very high tech and extremely efficient. He figured she could
use it on Sam because he knows deep down how much Molly wants to find out the real reason
her friend betrayed her. It’s not like Molly has a lot of friends to begin with so losing Sam must
have hurt her. Probably more than she’s willing to acknowledge.

Sam was the only person Molly invited to her and John’s wedding. And that meant something
to Molly at the time and possibly to this day so she went ahead and planted the bug on Sam. She
didn’t like that she had to steep to such methods, but she also needed some insight into how far
Sparks was prepared to go.
And on that score, she didn’t have to wait all that long. Sparks has been keeping a close eye on
Sam since bringing her into the loop. Let’s face it he’s smart enough not to fully trust the person
he’s blackmailing. So he was immediately alerted when Sam was caught speaking to Molly.
[11:00:17 PM] Kristine Francis: Sparks has a lot on his plate as it is so he didn’t need Sam
losing focus. Instead of sending her a message — he went to see her in person. She was told to
keep Molly in check and if Molly showed any signs of being suspicious about the baby or worse
working with someone like Harmon Kryger then he was to be notified at once. The reason Kryger
popped back up in the picture is because the man did something either very brave or very stupid.
Kryger broke into the building using Gordon Kern’s finger prints which the latter didn’t really
appreciate. He was and out within five minutes but during that short time he stole footage of
the flight mission that allegedly ended in a fire with everyone dying onboard. Sparks’s daughter
included. So Sparks knows how important that footage is and he very much wants to conduct a
manhunt using Molly as leverage. He figured Kryger will eventually reach out for support. She’s
the only other person that experienced an encounter on her mission that so far been capable to
talk about it.
Sparks assumption about Molly was correct and yet Molly was fully aware of his spies fol-
lowing her so she decided to use one of them against him. After Kryger approached her — she
pretended to pass on his whereabouts to Sam who dutifully reported it in to Sparks. Though it
was all a ruse Molly created right on the spot!
Molly and John (who managed to snatch himself away from the lab and very apologetic Julie)
met with Kryger and he gave them the footage he stole. It was locked by a program — one too
far advanced for him to understand and so he needed their help in decrypting it. And seeing as
John was good at such things — Molly thought he could handle it. While Kryger just hoped he
could.
Once they were done with their meeting, Kryger tried to sneak away and Gordon ended up
capturing him!
Kryger may have to pay for what he did with his life but the footage was worth it. Although
John wasn’t the one that decrypted it. It was trial and error on his part. And surprisingly it was
Ethan that managed to work out the decryption — apparently it was similar to his video games.
The footage was of Katie Sparks pleading to ISCA to stop all missions. There was a virus up
there with her and her crew and it had made everyone homicidal. It had also impregnated her so
she destroyed the ship in an effort to kill it. But Sparks chose to cover up that mission and then
chose Molly up there against his daughter’s wishes — she was to be the bait.
And the plan worked. Molly came back pregnant and Sparks took the baby which was what
he wanted this entire time — his hands on something powerful. Even if it’s too powerful for him
to handle. Whatever the baby is — it’s be known to kill people in space and it’s recently caused a
doctor on the ground to kill a close friend. It can’t be trusted and yet Sparks refuses to let it go!
So it continues to affect people using that weird symbol everyone keeps seeing!

explaining that Sparks sent her fishing.
The baby must be alive since they went
through so much trouble to get it. Molly asks Sam to look at the medical records of the Iruna
team. Sam protests that Sparks will notice, and Molly replies that she wants to make him ner-
vous.
The next morning, Ethan is all ready for school — an hour early. He and John are both
eager for him to get back to school and live like a normal kid, and he’s gotten him a bike as
a surprise. Molly and John brush their teeth and discuss their current plan: Molly will talk
to someone named Pearce about the Iruna. Molly visits Pearce’s fancy apartment building, but
Pearce refuses to see her.

When John drops Ethan off at school, two girls speaking Japanese make several unflattering
comments about him, including one’s desire to ”own one.” Ethan talks back to them in Japanese.
Ethan doesn’t know how he suddenly learned Japanese.
Sparks visits Sam’s office. He thanks her for the information that led to Kryger’s supposed
death, and reminds her about her brother’s precarious position. He is not happy that Sam gave
Molly the medical records without going through him first.
At John’s lab, Julie is arranging a date with Odin, the guy from the gym. John asks her
about the Japanese, which similarly baffles her. He’s unhappy with Ethan’s supposed lack of
humanity and his own lack of knowledge about the kid, unwittingly falling into what many
parents experience when their children do the unexpected.
Molly looks up the price of Pearce’s penthouse, which he bought for a whopping dollar. A
mining outfit called Claypool Industries bought it for five million a few days before selling it to
Pearce. She emails him about the circle pattern. Pearce asks her to meet him at that evening.
She then meets Sam to discuss the medical records. Apparently the brain scans were falsified,
but all crew members had elevated levels of naphthalene in their systems. Isn’t that the stuff in
mothballs? I don’t think you’re supposed to have it inside you. Later, Molly finds Pearce, police,
and onlookers outside his apartment. She’s told that he jumped.
Kearne’s mom visits him. She says he looks awful and asks if he’s been using again. He
says that he’s just been working a lot lately. She reminds him that this was the same age at
which his father fell ill, and apparently started hearing voices. Kearne insists that he’s fine, and
awkwardly hugs her before she leaves. As we all know, Kearne absolutely is using, something
called ”absalom.” He gives Kryger some water, and Kryger gets under his skin by saying that
Kearne is keeping him alive because he has doubts about the ISCA.
After hearing of Ethan’s newest development, Yasumoto has invited the Woods family for
dinner. Dodd, the board member that John insulted at the presentation, is there as Yasumoto’s
date. Yasumoto’s interest in Ethan is fueled by the same thing that drives his plans with Molly’s
baby: a shot at immortality. Ethan could be the key to fully understanding and replicating the
human brain, which would allow people to upload their mind into robotic platforms. John and
Dodd are both less than enthused about this idea (and the former even remarks on how he
finally agrees with the latter on something). They discuss the possibility of installing a governing
mechanism in Ethan to slow his progress to a more human rate, which Molly opposes on the
principle that they’re playing God. Pretty sure that concern’s already out the window, what with
the whole creating an AI and all. Good critical thinking skills, Molly.

Summary: When Molly learns that her baby is alive, she sets out with Kern and
Kryger to devise a plan to intercept the baby before Sparks and Ya-
sumoto can relocate him. Meanwhile, John struggles to keep up with
                       Ethan’s rapid development.

to his house alone and apparently un-
armed. Molly tells him about Katie’s preg-
nancy, and demands to know where the
fetus is. Sparks refuses to tell her. Before
she leaves, he tells him to pray for Katie’s
forgiveness. Not long after, Sparks leaves
his house and Molly follows him.
Odin holds a meeting at a warehouse-

as outsourcing humanity. He talks about
how they’re going to have a reckoning, and holds up a picture of Ethan. A certain red-haired
board member arrives.
Molly follows Sparks to an office building, then cons the security guard into letting her look
at Claypool’s empty office space. In the lab, Sparks follows Molly’s orders in an interesting way.
He talks to the baby, which shows him Katie. He asks for her forgiveness, saying that he had no
idea what would happen.
Turns out that Molly’s not quite as smooth as she thought. The guard locked Molly in what
really is just disused office space and reports the security breach. In other words, Molly’s on

the top floor, and Sparks is at the bottom. A security team descends upon the building and the
unwitting Molly, who spots them when a flock of birds hits a nearby window. When they fly
away, they form the circle pattern. She tries to hide, but Kearne finds her and leads her down a
stairwell, taking out a member of the security team on the way. He and Molly get into a car with
Kryger, who drives them away.
John attempts to install his governing mechanism into Ethan... but can’t get in. His password
is not working. He heads straight to Julie’s apartment and accuses her of changing the password,
which she denies. She’s also hurt that he thinks she would do that. They come to the conclusion
that Ethan must have locked them both out.
Sparks tells Yasumoto about the security breach. He thinks it would be best to kill her, but
Yasumoto believes that the baby (and therefore they) might need her later. The orange stuff that
he sleeps in, that keeps him alive, is running out. They need to keep the baby alive in the hopes
of getting more; after all, their previous mining operations in the same sector that Molly visited
have to be connected to this new life. Sparks goes home and calls his ex, Tanya. He tells her that
he thinks they’d still be together if Katie hadn’t died. She points out that she did, and hangs up
on him.
The crew plans for Molly to expose Sparks’ handiwork at a board meeting. Meanwhile, Ethan
has gone missing a la Carl Grimes. So has his bike. John is able to trace them to a nearby park.
At the park, Ethan sees some older kids stuff a futuristic firecracker into an old robot. Upon
seeing him, they try to take his bike. A push to the ground peels off part of Ethan’s skin, and the
realization that they’re fighting an android is enough to send them running. John arrives shortly
after and scolds him for running off. Ethan insists on taking the broken bot home.
Sparks tells Kearne to eliminate Molly, disobeying Yasumoto’s orders. Kearne finds out about
the impending relocation of the baby, and is able to grab Molly before she gets to the board
meeting. They’re going to have to scrap this plan. The three meet again in the trailer to plan the
heist. Moving the baby will leave them vulnerable to attack, so it’s best to strike in the middle of
transportation. Kearne tells Molly about the kill order.
At John’s lab, Julie fixes Ethan’s face. He asks if they’re going to fix the bot, to which Julie
replies that it can’t fulfill its function. Understandably concerned, Ethan asks about his function.
Julie says that his purpose is to find his own. Julie and Charlie talk a bit about Odin. Charlie
tries to ask her out, but she rejects him. He also says that she wouldn’t like Odin so much if she
did an internet search on him. Julie says that she wouldn’t like it if Charlie did such a thing.
Nevermind that your coworker might have found out that your boyfriend is an anti-robotics
terrorist-person. Gotta prove that point, Julie.
There’s been a problem at the ISCA lab, a leak of some kind in the tank chamber. It’s filled with
a foggy substance. A suited techie enters it, then says that they not going to believe something,
and then stops responding. The comms are still working, but he isn’t talking. The baby’s heart
and respiratory rates drop quickly, but then recover.
Molly sends John a message, telling him to not go after the ISCA if she doesn’t come back.
John gets it, then immediately goes after her. He leaves Ethan with Julie and her terrorist
boyfriend.
The bomb Kearne planted inside goes off, and Molly and Kryger sneak into the lab. Kearne is
able to get most of the workers to evacuate the building, except those in the main room. Sparks
calls him down there. He tells Sparks that he’s late because he was offing Molly. Molly and Kryger
get to the elevator, where they were supposed to meet him. Obviously, Kearne’s not there. They
decide that they’ve got to take the elevator with Kearne’s prints. Kearne almost convinces Sparks
to leave, but the latter notices the elevator coming down... and it says that Kearne’s using it.
There’s motion in the tank chamber. The fog swirls around, and the circles appear on members
of the security team. When Molly and Kryger enter the room, there’s just a pile of dead guards to
meet them. Kearne and Sparks are shooting at each other down the hall.
Sparks shoots Molly, but then her body takes on the look of Katie’s. Katie gets up and says,
”He needs our help.”

Molly’s baby is dangerous. Now that it’s

to anything he can to assist the baby in
                                                          whatever it wants.

a whole is facing — no one knows what

onto women all the while pretending to be
a pregnancy. And now that it’s arrived at its final destination — it has all the power. Kryger at-
tempted to explain his actions in almost killing the baby by relaying said info yet Molly refused
to listen to him. To her, it’s still her baby and she naturally wants to defend him as any mother
would do. Even if that means she has to allow that thing to grow into a murderous machine.
Kryger remembered what the baby did to him when they were on board his ship together and
after hearing about Katie — he’s more prepared than ever to get to the baby and destroy it before
anyone else has to suffer. So he locked Molly in at the facility to make sure she wouldn’t interfere
with his plans. Then he and Kern went about trying to find the baby albeit for different reasons.
Well, at least in the beginning. Kern didn’t come to see the baby as the threat it was until he saw
for himself how much it was growing and once the danger was established — he chose to side
with Kryger on what to do next. Or at the very most appeared to agree siding with Kryger. One
never knows with Kern!
While under the baby’s influence, Sparks terminated his agreement and secretive job with
Yasumoto. He had claimed to be ”not the man for the job”. He said that after he had already lied
