Welcome Welcome to the St John of God Health Care Research Week. This week highlights the research undertaken at St John of God Subiaco and Murdoch hospitals and other local research institutes, and offers an opportunity to further develop the skills of our researchers. Hospital research is critical to ensuring our clinical care is underpinned by the best evidence available to improve patient outcomes and develop new levels of clinical excellence. Research is undertaken across a variety of areas, including nursing, midwifery, medical and allied health practices, respiratory, orthopaedics, oncology, cardiology, emergency medicine, intensive care and pain treatment. Much of our research is undertaken collaboratively with clinical, university and donor partners and we continue to seek new opportunities in other disciplines and clinical areas. With Research Week events held at both hospitals, we are pleased to present a number of special guests including Dr Christina Davies from the School of Population and Global Health UWA, Professor Selma Alliex from University of Notre Dame (Fremantle) alongside our own Research Lead Investigators Professor Tom Corcoran, Professor Steve Webb, Professor Eric Visser and Dr Paul Cohen. sjog.org.au/researchweek T: 08 6465 9364 | E: research.network@sjog.org.au 2 3
