The Early College High School Blueprint All designated ECHSs (Provisional, Early College, Distinguished Early College) are required to meet all of the design elements for each benchmark annually. Benchmark 1: Target Population Application Process Feeder school and community recruitment ECHS Application Interviews Target group - at-risk students, 1st generation, low socioeconomic, African American, Hispanic, and Native American Important to note: ECHS cannot include EOC scores, discipline, teacher recommendation, essays, GPA, etc… as part of the decision when considering qualified candidates
Benchmark 1: Target Population Required Activities and Products Activities: All products shall be published on the ECHS’s website and be made available to TEA upon request. All products shall be maintained in accordance with the local records retention policy. Products: Written admission policy and enrollment application Written recruitment plan including a timeline of recruitment and enrollment events, and recruitment materials for distribution at feeder schools and other appropriate locations in the community Brochures and marketing in Spanish, English, Written communication plan for targeting identified audiences, parents, community members, school board, higher education personnel, etc.

Benchmark 2: Partnership Agreement Required Activities and Products Activities: All products shall be published on the ECHS’s website and be made available to TEA upon request. All products shall be maintained in accordance with the local records retention policy. Campuses must submit their final signed MOU to TEA when initially applying for early college designation or are provisionally designated. ECHS Campuses that are designated early college or distinguished early college are not required to submit the MOU during the annual designation process (but must have it available upon TEA request). ECHS campuses in needs improvement may be required to resubmit their MOU to TEA. Products: Final, signed, and executed MOU

AVID Kolbi Dixon Advancement Via Individual Determination College readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college The program places special emphasis on growing writing, critical thinking, teamwork, organization and reading skills.

Benchmark 4: Curriculum and Support Academic Coaching • Provide assistance and act as an advocate for EC students at their IHE • Monitor student attendance and grades • Provide communication and information to the ECHS principal and counselor regarding student progress, performance and institutional concerns • Collaborate with EC team and IHE academic office • Monitor transportation • Help students communicate to professors (help write emails, classroom correspondence…) • Create academic planners that correspond to high school and IHE calendars • Help students with time management by collaborating to create course calendars (especially for readings/assignments without specific deadlines...for example, if they are supposed to "Read Chapter 18" for the next class...map that out on a calendar so they are not trying to cram in all of Chapter 18 the night before class) • Create reading guides to help the above mentioned reading retention • Contact person on IHE campus to help print materials, use the library, obtain ID's, make appointments with the writing center and utilize the college amenities • Monitor classroom behavior by sitting in or observing classes • Build rapport with professors to provide (and repeat) study tips, expectations, etc to students • Schedule office hours on Everman's campus with our IHE professors • Troubleshoot any incidents on IHE campus • Promote study groups and tutorials

ECHS Class of 2018 The “Trailblazers” • 100% of the students graduated on the Distinguished Level of Achievement with an endorsement • 29 students graduated with 1 or more Performance Acknowledgments • 25 students completed all collegiate coursework for AA degree/certification • 1 student completed certification for HVAC Tech • 2 students completed certification for AUTO Tech • 5 students completed Solidworks certification • 12 students completed Emergency Care and Safety Institute certification (CPR, AED, and First Aid) • 25 will enter college in the fall, 2 will enter the military, and 7 are going straight into the workforce
