Welcome from Philip Grant, Chair, Scottish Executive Committee, Lloyds Banking Group On behalf of Bank of Scotland, I would like to thank you for choosing to be a part of this year’s Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run. Year on year, thousands of you choose to add it in to your calendar, and take on the challenge of a 10k or half marathon around the streets and parks of the wonderful City of Glasgow. As you make your way round the route, you will have the fantastic support of fellow runners of all levels. From those taking on the challenge for the first time, to seasoned participants who have come to love the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run and return year after year. I’d also like to give a special mention to the amazing runners who choose to take the opportunity to help raise millions of pounds for hundreds of worthy causes, including our own charity partner, Mental Health UK. 2019 will be our 11th year as proud partner of the event, and every year hundreds of Lloyds Banking Group colleagues choose to take part or volunteer across the weekend. Many colleagues will run to raise funds for our charity partner, Mental Health UK, a charity close to them or simply want to be a part of this great Scottish challenge. As always, I’d like to give a very special thank you to the hundreds of volunteers , our partners at the Great Run Company and Glasgow Life, for continuing to give us an outstanding event that provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in an unforgettable weekend of running. The race weekend offers events for all ages, let’s not forget about the thousands of young runners who’ll get involved through our Schools Challenge and ‘Super Saturday’ Junior, Family and toddler events. If you can make it along to George Square on Saturday 28 September, it’s always a great, family fun day out. Good luck and please enjoy your Great Scottish Run experience! Philip Grant, Chair, Scottish Executive Committee, Lloyds Banking Group
WALL OF SUPPORT IS BACK! Bank of Scotland – by the side of Great Scottish Runners since 2009 It’s our 11th year as title partner and we are ready to support all the amazing 2019 runners. Messages of support from friends and family will once again be appearing on the big screen located on the route along Clyde Street. Don’t forget to share your runner number with your friends and family, they can then register their messages of support for you at www.greatscottishrun.com Once you cross the finish line at Glasgow Green, head over to the Bank of Scotland marqueeand create your very own finish line memory and celebration. Our GIF pods will capture your finishing time, add in some flutter confetti and then share the image via your twitter or Facebook pages. There’s also the chance to meet Olympic medallist and athletics legend, Sally Gunnell and keen amateur runner and TV and Radio presenter Jenni Falconer.
If you are running for our charity partner Mental Health UK, look out for their marquee at the finish line located next to the Bank of Scotland marquee. Their team will be there to thank all their amazing runners who took part, and raised valuable funds to support people with mental health issues. The fundraising from all the Great Scottish Runners will allow Mental Health UK to continue to connect with people and organisations providing mental health advice, information, and support to make a difference. To say thank you, there’s a mini massage on offer within their marquee, where you can also pick up a little goody bag as well. Last year, Mental Health UK launched their new information guide on mental health, helping to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of poor mental health and reduce the stigma. Good luck and see you at the finish line! P.S. There’s still time to donate… go to https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/ MHUKgreatscottishrun2019 to show your support
