Every dollar you fundraise supports ground-breaking research and impactful services, making life better for people affected by MS. In 2018, the MS Society released evidence-based recommendations for vitamin D supplementation and maintenance of vitamin D serum levels, addressing a key need of the MS community for information on vitamin D intake and MS. “According to multiple studies, vitamin D deficiency is a risk factor for MS,” says Dr. Ruth Ann Marrie, Director, MS Clinic, Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre and a member of the Vitamin D and MS Panel who worked on the recommendations. They provide optimal dosing ranges for people with or at risk for MS, and information about comorbid conditions, sun exposure, vitamin D supplements, and food sources. “Having these recommendations available to someone like myself, who may be at risk of the disease, gives me hope,” says Marie-Ève Simard, whose mother lives with MS.
