EP 2018 Important Easter Project Information Departure Information ●Meet in the church parking lot at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 1st to load the vehicles. We will need all students to help load the vehicles. Please do not leave the loading area until the loading process is finished. Your bags will have been packed away the day before. Personal items i.e back pack, pillow etc…can be brought on the van for the ride down. ●All E.P. participants will then attend the 9:15 a.m. church service together, where we will be commissioned at the beginning of the service. We will leave directly from the service, so be ready to go before it starts. In order to cut down on the chaos created by our departure from the worship service we request that parents say good-bye to students before church and not accompany us out to the vehicles. Return information ●We will return sometime in the early evening on Friday, April 6th. Students are expected to help with the unloading and cleaning at 8AM on Saturday, April 7th. We will finish the unloading and cleaning process that morning. Parents are invited to help in order to make clean up a bit faster. Important things not mentioned on the Amor packing list. ●Money for two fast food meals ●1 dozen (or more) cookies: It is a tradition that we all bring a batch of cookies to share for dessert. ●Your own personal roll of toilet paper for the outhouse. ●Important Note: On the work site you must wear closed toe shoes and long pants. No shorts, tank tops, shirts that allow your stomach to show, or pants that allow your underwear to show are allowed. What not to bring: ●Amor Ministries and St. Peter's prohibit alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, weapons and fireworks. If you bring or purchase these items your parents will be called and you will be sent home immediately. No electrical appliances (mostly because there is no electricity). ●No personal electronic devices because they are a distraction and most wont get service in Mexico. They are not to be in use during any programs at camp or on the work site. They cannot be used with anything other than earphones. Sample Support Letters To my dear family and friends, School has started again and I am happy to be back into academics, sports, band, cheerleading and church. My week is filled with homework, Texas Hold 'em practice, surf lessons. I am looking forward to finishing this year and I am also excited for all of my opportunities. One of them is the possibility of attend- ing a service trip with my church. St. Peter's by the Sea Presbyterian Church is sending several teenagers to Tijuana, Mexico for a service trip over spring break. Our trip will be from (insert dates). I am hoping to go on this trip and to experience something very different from my own life. The purpose of the service trip is to provide students of the South Bay and St. Peter's Church with a relationally based, community devel- opment focused immersion service opportunity. Here are a few things we will be doing. We will… v Do something meaningful over Spring Break. v Spend time with the local community and those serving that community. v Participate in building a house for a Family in need of a home. v Meet prior, during, and after the scheduled trip. v Meet in small groups with adults prior and during the trip. v Pray before, during, and after the trip. v Learn about Mexico and the current economic impact in that region. v Receive training in "how to" come back to the United States and use that information. v The mission trip costs $475 and I am asking for financial help and prayer support. Firs, Please pray for me. Above all else I want to make sure that this trip si good for everyone involved. Second, if you would like to support our trip financially, please send a check for any amount made out to St. Peter's by the Sea include my name and the words "EP" in the memo. Thank you for your time and support. In God's Hands, Your Name
