Exploring Different Sand Today we decided to revisit our kinetic sand from earlier in the week, as well as another sand sensory box to discuss different kinds of sand. Ferrah, Alexis, Jade and Chris were the first to sit down at the table, two at each tub. Ferrah and Alexis immediately started filling the trucks up with sand and driving them around in circles. Jade and Chris also began filling the moulds with the Kinetic sand and taping them to make it come out in different shapes. When we swapped activities, Tobias and Deacon were eager to explore the wet sand tub, they didn't take long before they were driving them around and crashing into each oth- er. Meghan was also eager to play with the wet sand, filling one of the moulds but was surprised when she tapped it down, the shape wasn't as good as it was with the other sand. Keith laughed as he enjoyed filling the bucket of the digger with Kinetic sand and watching it fall out in a perfect shape. It was very interesting explore two very dif- ferent types of sand today, feeling the different texture as wit fell through our hands.
White Board Drawings This morning for a different type of art experience Miss Tenneile set up some drawing for the Ele- phants to do on the white boards. As Miss Tenneile placed the white boards and markers on the table Cienna, Meghan, Keith, Tobias and Deacon all came over to see what was happening. As they all sat down Miss Tenneile passed out the white board markers and they all started to draw. Cienna showed great interest in doing her drawings with the bright vibrant coloured markers. While the Elephants were all busy drawing Miss Tenneile noticed how Deacon was holding his marker and the concentration on his face as he draw a variety of sized circles. Soon Christopher, Ferrah, Jade and Alexis came to have a turn at drawing. As they all took turns of drawing Christopher and Jade both took an interest in sharing what it was they were drawing. Soon Alexis passed Miss Tenneile one of the markers Miss Tenneile asked Alexis if she would like her to do a drawing Alexis replied by nodding her head. Miss Tenneile then asked what she should draw Jade replied to Miss Tenneile “STAR”, Miss Tenneile then drew a star and then continued to draw what the children would ask her to draw.
Group Time The Elephant are beginning to become so confident and aware of our group times, hurrying over ea- gerly when we start to sing “ Everybody come sit down”. The elephants all gathered over taking a seat in a big circle on the mat. We started our group time with our acknowledgment to country followed by our welcoming song. We then played our new found songs “ I Can Care” and “ I know a song that gives me power” . The elephants love these new songs and are starting to learn them so quickly following along to the actions after Miss Tenneile, Miss Tayla and Miss Sharnee while also attempting to sing. Over the past week each day we have been also focusing on our new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Is- lander songs “ Taba Naba” and “ Inanaya”. The Elephants showed how confident they were today singing along and following along to the actions. Well done Elephants! What else would we like to sing? Miss Tenneile asked the children. Baby shark, sleeping bunnies and baba black sheep were the chosen songs to finish off our group time today.
