Awarding Teacher Assessed Grades in GCSE English Language and English Literature At Ecclesfield School we follow the AQA specification that covers the following course content: English Language English Literature Paper 1: Explorations in Creative Reading and Paper 1: Shakespeare and the 19th Century Novel Writing Paper 2: Writers’ Viewpoints and Perspectives Paper 2: Modern texts and poetry Non-examination Assessment: Spoken Language In summer 2021 the course was to be formally assessed by the following components with weightings shown: English Language English Literature Paper 1: Explorations in Creative Reading and Paper 1: Anthology Poetry and the 19th Century Writing 50% Novel 46% Paper 2: Writers’ Viewpoints and Perspectives Paper 2: Shakespeare and Unseen Poetry 54% 50% Non-examination Assessment: Spoken Language 0% All teachers have covered most of the course content and skills over the two years. This includes topics taught in lockdown. We are confident that students have the necessary subject knowledge and skills to progress to the next stage of their education. The guidance from Ofqual on awarding TAGs stated that ‘Teachers must assess their students’ performance, only on what content has been delivered to them by their teachers, to determine the grade each student should receive.’ Furthermore, the guidance outlined that ‘Teachers can use evidence of a student’s performance from throughout the course to inform their judgement.’ We have followed the Ecclesfield School Centre Policy to ensure we are in line with all Ofqual and JCQ guidance. The professional judgement of our teachers will be based on what has been taught to each individual student. We will use a range of evidence, which is identified in the table below. We do not need to assess each student on every aspect of the qualification. We will instead use a range of evidence that shows the students’ performance on the aspects that have been taught. Mindful of that guidance we have used the following information to finalise our Teacher Assessed Grades: November 2020 Mock Examination - Full English Language Paper 1 - Full English Language Paper 2 Full papers from AQA. Marked using published mark schemes, moderated and graded using AQA boundaries. April 2021 Mock Examination - Full English Language Paper 1 - Full English Language Paper 2 Full papers from AQA. Marked using published mark schemes, moderated and graded using AQA boundaries. - Modified English Literature: Macbeth

Internal Assessments - In class: Anthology Poetry (Y11) - In class: Macbeth (Y11) - In class: Language Paper One (Y10) - In class: Anthology Poetry (Y10) - In class: Spoken Language Assessment (Y11) Other evidence gathered by class teachers Including: In class practice questions and assessments over the two years covering all English Language content and selected English Literature content. In class extended pieces of writing, produced independently. Additional evidence from remote learning assessments: Anthology Poetry, Unseen Poetry, A Christmas Carol. Class work from Y10 and Y11 as evidenced through book work. Additional evidence from Independent Study sessions and P6 work. The range of evidence detailed above has enabled us to use exam board guidance to finalise a fair grade for all our students. This broad evidence base enabled us to still finalise a grade for any student who missed a single assessment point. Six pieces of evidence were assessments sat under exam conditions with all support in place for students with access arrangements and special consideration (scribes, extra time laptops etc). Access arrangements were also factored into internal assessments completed in classroom settings through moderation and standardisation. Our TAGs will be internally moderated by English teaching staff, experienced English examination markers, the Curriculum Leader and SLT. They have also been checked by the Trust CEO before any grades are submitted to the exam board. Awarding Teacher Assessed Grades in GCSE Maths At Ecclesfield School we follow the Pearson Edexcel GCSE (9 - 1) in Mathematics (1MA1) specification that covers the following course content, 1) Number 2) Algebra 3) Ratio, proportion and rates of change 4) Geometry and measures 5) Probability 6) Statistics In summer 2021 the course was to be formally assessed by the following components with weightings shown: Paper 1 – Non-calculator 33. 3̇% Paper 2 – Calculator 33. 3̇% Paper 3 – Calculator 33. 3̇% All teachers have covered most of the course content and skills over the past three years. This includes topics taught in lockdown. We are confident that students have the necessary subject knowledge and skills to progress to the next stage of their education. The guidance from Ofqual on awarding TAGs stated, any evidenced used for TAGs must be authenticated as the candidates’ own work. The department are to determine which evidence will be considered and the relative merits of each to be consistently applied across all candidates, by all teachers. All decisions are made free from bias and aligned to appropriate equality and discrimination legislation. This is through swap marking and a strict quality assurance process. We have followed Ecclesfield School’s Centre Policy to ensure we are in line with all Ofqual and JCQ’s guidance. We have used a range of evidence, which is identified in the table below. We do not need to assess students on every aspect of the qualification. We have used a range of evidence that covers all six areas of the specification. Completed under exam conditions in the classrooms and marked using the mark scheme provided by Edexcel. Topic 1 Number and Ratio Additional Number and Ratio Assessment provided by the exam board Assessment for additional assessment material. Awarding Teacher Assessed Grades in GCSE ART AND DESIGN At Ecclesfield School we follow the AQA specification that covers the following course content, Project 1- Natural Forms Project 2-My World/Students choice. In summer 2021 the course was to be formally assessed by the following components with weightings shown with 100% coursework: There are 4 Assessment Criteria. The details of which are below: AO1: Develop ideas through studying other Artists (Artist links) with annotation. AO2: Developing of ideas through experimentation and exploring a range of media (showing reflection and annotation throughout). AO3: Produce a range of drawings that show your intentions (ideas & observations).Including written annotation. AO4: Produce a final outcome(s) that clearly shows a link with Artists and planning. This must show a clear ‘joined up journey’ through written reflections and observations throughout. All teachers have covered the full course content and skills over the past two years. We are confident that students have the necessary subject knowledge and skills to progress to the next stage of their education. Awarding Teacher Assessed Grades in BTEC Enterprise At Ecclesfield School, learners are enrolled on to ‘Pearson Edexcel: BTEC Enterprise Level 1/2 Tech Award In summer 2021 the course was to be formally assessed by the following components with weightings shown: Component 1 (internal) – 30% Component 2 (internal) – 30% Component 3 (external) – 40% In terms of completed assessment, last year, we submitted predicted grades for Component 1 to BTEC. BTEC then provided us with a predicted grade for Component 3. This meant students only had to Component 2 to complete in 2020-21 academic year. As of the 4th of May, BTEC have carried out a random sample of work of Component 2 and have deemed it to be appropriate, giving learners a complete grade for all three units. We have followed the Ecclesfield School Centre Policy to ensure we are in line with all Ofqual and JCQ guidance. The professional judgement of our teachers will be based on what grades BTEC have awarded students as well as the moderated grade of Component 2. Some students have been entered for a resit to improve their Component three grade. Below identifies an overview of the evidence we will be using to finalise those grades. November 2020 mock exams Component 3 exam Internal Assessment – End of Learning A exam: Exam style questions created by CL, a range of question types, extended writing questions at the end, 26 marks to be gained. Internal Assessment – End of Learning B exam, including aspects of A: Exam style questions created by CL, a range of question types, extended writing questions at the end, 40 marks to be gained. Internal Assessment – End of whole unit exam, including aspects of A and B: Exam style questions created by CL, a range of question types, extended writing questions at the end, 60 marks to be gained. Other evidence gathered by class teachers over the two years Including: class work, mock exam questions, extended writing in class as well as walking talking mocks throughout the year.

Due to the broad nature of the assessment points, if learners had missed an assessment they had chance to complete the assessment. Awarding Teacher Assessed Grades in GCSE ENGINEERING At Ecclesfield School, we follow OCR specification that covers the following course content, One exanimated unit surrounding engineering materials, processes and production. A Practical Manufacturing unit then encompasses preparing and planning for manufacture. A machine production Unit that includes all aspects of Computer aided manufacturing. In summer 2021 the course was to be formally assessed by the following components with weightings shown: Unit R109: Engineering materials, processes and production 25% Unit R110: Preparing and planning for manufacture 25% Unit R111: Computer aided manufacturing 25% Unit R112: Quality control of engineered products 25% (withdrawn unit) All teachers have covered most of the course content and skills over the past two years. At the start of this academic year, fieldwork (paper 3) was removed as a component of the exam due to travel restrictions. The exam board have also not supplied an issue evaluation booklet, a pre-release document that we usually have access to 12 weeks before the exams (paper 3) for pupils to study. Period Study: The American West, c1835–c1895 Modern Depth Study: Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918–39 Centres were then told by Edexcel to remove the assessment of one of the sections.
