How do I get a property tax print out for my income taxes? A. The best way to ensure you’re ready for income tax season is to keep a copy of your June tax bill from the previous year. If you have lost or misplaced the bill, copies can be printed by the Municipality. A $10 fee may be applicable. In some cases, proof of property tax payments can be printed from your My Tax Account. Q. Why is there interest being charged on my account? A. Interest charges mean there is a payment outstanding on your account. Be sure when paying the June and September installments to double-check the amounts. June’s installment will include a cent figure, while September’s will not. 1.25 percent penalty or interest is added to outstanding taxes on the first day of each month until paid. Q. I’m having my home assessed. How can I see the property assessments of similar homes to mine? A. The My Tax Account portal offers a property tax look-up without having to log in to an account. Navigate to Online Services in the top right-hand corner of the page and click the Property Taxes link. Search by Jur Number, Property ID, Address or Postal Code and see tax information and assessments from the last three years. This does not include any personal or payment information. 18 SOUTH DUNDAS 360 • SPRING/SUMMER • 2020
