Dugout Chatter: Starting Strong in 2021 03/9/2021 Thank you, parents, for registering your baseball player with JCB for the 2021 spring baseball season. JCB registered 782 recreational baseball players and 199 coaches that formed 64 teams from 5U to 18U. We continue to be the largest recreational baseball program in northeast Florida. Your Board is working tirelessly both on and off the fields to improve your players skills and baseball knowledge, as well as your overall experience with the organization. On January 1, 2021, the league excitedly announced a new Advanced Baseball name and logo, JCB Diamond Kings. This extensive effort was coordinated with the Advanced Baseball coaches and the Board. It resulted new JCB Diamond King uniforms and unity among our advanced teams. Thanks to Britt V. for your creativity and Adam L. for the extensive logo and uniform coordination! Also in January, JCB held “Knockoff the Rust” open workouts for all JCB recreational players prior to evaluations! Dave A, JCB President, negotiated Academy Sports + Outdoors as our NEW Platinum Sponsor and held a 20% Discount Weekend!!! JCB purchased several full sets of catcher's equipment and many new catcher's mitts fulfilling a great need of replacing old and worn equipment. Thank You Academy Sports + Outdoors! JCB partnered with CAA Creeks Softball to use the player evaluation app, TeamGenius. The partnership resulted in much quicker player evaluation, easier tabulation, and the cost to evaluate each player was reduced by 40%. Thanks Chris J. of Creeks Softball! In late January 2021, JCB coaches needed buckets to store and carry baseballs and the price for traditional baseball buckets was continuing to rise. JCB found a solution. JCB contacted Firehouse Subs to purchase 43 pickle buckets. These buckets are 80% cheaper than the cost of a typical baseball bucket and the money goes to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Plus, it makes the players, coaches, and umpires hungry for concessions. Thanks Jesus R., JCB Equipment Director and James D., JCB Treasurer! With St. John’s County support, JCB is efficiently and effectively managing the fields we practice and play games on. JCB applied for and was granted County approval to convert Durbin Field 4 to be a "flex" field for Majors, Minors, and Rookies divisions. This greatly expands our practice opportunities for our continuously growing number of teams. Thanks Britt V. and St. Johns County!! A proud member of Creeks Athletic Association (CAA), St. Johns County, Florida
Dugout Chatter: Starting Strong in 2021 03/9/2021 JCB Webmaster Jeremy H. is a workhorse. Jeremy has assisted several Board members with improving the management of the league. He has enhanced our registration, player draft, webpage, social media, merchandise, concessions, practice and game scheduling, and rostering players. Thank You! Recently, Dave A. initiated JCB hosting the FREE MLB Pitch Hit and Run and Jr. HR Derby contests on April 24, 2021 for all baseball players in NE Florida. This exciting baseball community event is open to all baseball players. Winners get an opportunity to compete in competitions at the 2021 World Series (details are at https://www.jcbaseball.org/mlbphr). Thanks to Chris T., Advanced Baseball Director, and the Diamond Kings coaches for running this upcoming event for all baseball players in northeast Florida! There are more things to come as well. JCB Officers are looking for fun opportunities for all players and is working with the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to participate in their Stars of Tomorrow and Kids Club program. Look for new JCB merchandise and menu items going on sale in Mills Fields concessions. Thanks Ashley S. and the JCB committee! JCB is also coordinating with St. Johns County for the annual JCB Classic at the end of May 2021 (https://www.jcbaseball.org/jcbclassic). These are just a few of the many things your Board has accomplished beyond the day-to-day baseball operations management necessary to get your player and their team ready for spring baseball, as well as providing a solid organizational foundation to set us up for the future. Thank You goes to Teddy, Ernie, Dave, and Mike with St. Johns County Parks and Recreation, and Marty and Chuck with Creeks Athletic Association for your continued support!!! There are too many volunteers to properly thank in this edition for ensuring the LARGEST premier recreational baseball program in northeast Florida continues this great American tradition. Next time you see a Board Member, Coach, Team Mom, or any JCB volunteer, please thank them for their volunteered time and effort. It really does take a village. Now on to Opening Day of the recreation baseball season. We look forward to this Saturday March 13th and starting the +280 baseball games for the spring season. We wish for a safe and successful spring with many great memorable moments for everyone. GO JCB!!!! A proud member of Creeks Athletic Association (CAA), St. Johns County, Florida
