From Kyra Sundance, CEO of DMWYD: “Teaching tricks establishes a pattern of learning, teaches skills and focus, is a positive method of training, and
promotes a bond between canine and human. Dog trainers tend to train the hardest when working toward a goal— it keeps them motivated, and
focused. The process of teaching dog tricks puts into play the foundational concepts and techniques of animal training: operant conditioning, marker
training, consistency, timing, and motivation. In teaching tricks, we get to practice these techniques and immediately see the results. Each new trick
presents a unique challenge that we can address with creativity and the insight of our previous experience. A Trick Dog title gives trainers this goal,
while allowing them to earn their title at their own pace.”
Per the DMWYD website, the organization was founded in 2005, the first title was awarded to an Australian Shepherd in August of 2007, and the first
title awarded to a Bulldog was in June of 2011.

NOTE!!! Some dogs listed by their owners as Bulldogs for their DMWYD titles are not actually Bulldogs, but rather are
obvious mixes or different bull-breeds altogether. This does not refer to dogs with PAL or ILP enrollment since those dogs
actually look like Bulldogs! This refers to dogs whose available info, photos and/or video undeniably establish that they are
not Bulldogs. Not all the dogs listed can be tracked, but in keeping with the purpose of maintaining titles databases for
Bulldogs, Bea has placed a strike-thru across those dogs whose info, photos and/or video undisputedly confirm that they
are not, and do not even look like, a Bulldog.

DMWYD Titling criteria: There are 4 levels of tricks (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced & Expert) and 5 tiers of DMWYD Trick Dog titles
(Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert & Champion), plus a Register of Merit title. Dogs must perform a variety of tricks with
increased challenges at each level. Tricks on the Nov & Int lists are each worth 1 point. Tricks on the Adv & Exp level lists are each
worth 2 pts. Unlike AKC, in DMWYD, the same trick may be used more than once, so the same trick may be used for its own level title
or a lower level title. In other words: a specific trick from the Expert list may be used for the Expert title even though it is also used for
an Adv, Int and/or Nov title; a specific trick from the Advanced list may be used for the Advanced title even though it is also used for an
Adv, Int and/or Nov title; and a specific trick from the Intermediate list may be used for the Intermediate title even though it is also used
for a Nov title. The Novice title requires 15 points from the Novice or higher trick lists. The Intermediate title requires 12 points from
Intermediate or higher trick lists. The Advanced title requires 5 tricks from the Advanced and or Expert trick lists. The Expert title
requires 5 tricks from the Expert list. So, the most efficient way to earn Novice thru Expert titles is for the dog to perform tricks that add
up to 15 points using the minimum number required for each tier, e.g., a dog that performs 8 Expert tricks could get the Novice thru
Expert titles with just those 8 tricks (at 2 pts each, the 16 points satisfy the points criterion for Novice (15 pts) and Intermediate (12 pts)
as well as the level criteria for all four title tiers: Expert (5 Expert tricks), Advanced (5 Advanced or higher tricks), Intermediate (12 pts
from Intermediate or higher tricks) and Novice (15 pts from Novice or higher tricks); or a dog that performs 5 Expert tricks plus 3
Advanced tricks could get the Novice thru Expert titles with just those 8 tricks, or a dog that performs 5 Expert tricks plus 10
Intermediate tricks could get the Novice thru Expert titles with just those 15 tricks, and so on with different combinations. To earn the
Champion title, the dog must demonstrate skill in every foundational behavior category, including retrieving, targeting, distance work,
etc. The Champion title is different than the lower tier tiles in that it is judged as “work as a whole.”, and is evaluated only by DMWYD
staff by video submission. The Register of Merit title recognizes sires & dams that produce fine offspring, and is earned when the sire or
dam & its offspring accumulate a combined total of 10 titles.

American Kennel Club title recognition:
Recognized by AKC (Effective January 1, 2017) For your dog to obtain AKC recognition for this title, your dog must be registered with
AKC. Novice Trick Dog (NTD), Intermediate Trick Dog (ITD), and Advanced Trick Dog (ATD) titles will be added to your AKC registry with
the suffixes TKN, TKI, and TKA. Expert Trick Dog (ETD) and Champion titles (TDCH) will be added to your AKC registry with the suffix of
TKP. Submit your Do More With Your Dog!® Title certificate and a fee to AKC.
Canadian Kennel Club title recognition:
CKC Recognized by CKC (Effective January 1, 2020) For your dog to obtain CKC recognition for this title, your dog must have the
following (mixed breeds welcome): A CKC Registration Number, a Performance Event Number, a Canine Companion Number, a
Miscellaneous Certification Number or an Event Registration Number. Submit your Do More With Your Dog!® Title certificate and a fee
to CKC.
