DIRECTOR’S NOTES CARPOOLERS aims to be a film with a powerful concept: spending one and a half hours in a car with four people who, a priori, do not know each other. One and a half hours without leaving the vehicle. Feeling trapped by an everyday situation which anyone who has used one of these apps has experienced at some point. An atmosphere loaded with uncomfortable moments with strangers. With simple, prejudiced and awkward conversations to break the ice. With amusing situations bordering on the surreal. To emphasise that peculiar atmosphere, the camera will never leave the car. Even when the characters stop at a gas station, we will not follow them. We will experience everything from the inside, as spectators of the increasing tension generated by the lies and mysteries held by the driver. We will become an omniscient entity witnessing the story from the point of view of the car itself, which is in fact the fifth character, and a very important one. In summary, CARPOOLERS will be a film with a different and attractive narrative, touching on several “never before” areas that will impact the audience. But, above all, it will challenge our conscience and preconceived notions through its dynamic dialogues and characters as real as life itself. All of this will lead up to an answer for the initial key question: Do you really know who you are travelling with?
