About Paines Plough Hello! We’re Paines Plough. We tour celebrated new stories, performing them wherever you are across the UK. Founded in 1974, we have worked with over 300 outstanding British playwrights including James Graham, Sarah Kane, Dennis Kelly, Mike Bartlett, Sam Steiner, Elinor Cook, Vinay Patel, Zia Ahmed and Kae Tempest. Our plays are nationally identified and locally heard. Digital Producer Role The Digital Producer will be responsible for project managing the planning and delivery of a programme of innovative digital content alongside Paines Plough’s live Productions during August and enabling the artistic team to reach and engage with new audiences as it develops its digital strategy for the future. OUR PLANNED PROGRAMME: Paines Plough has received funding from the Garfield Weston Foundation and the Cultural Recovery Fund to build on its digital programme and audience engagement – developing accessible content to reach and grow audiences for new work. This summer we plan to deliver a digital programme that will include: - Capture of full productions to reach audiences unable to attend, breaking down barriers and reaching new audiences across the UK and internationally. - A young person’s engagement programme that will combine pre and post show digital content to inspire and engage young people and family groups (ages 5+) - A live to digital cooking event alongside our Production of Hungry to encourage participants to try new recipes, inspired by a community chef. - Development of a digital strategy around our autumn production of Sessions by Ifeyinwa Frederick, including capture and original digital content. - Delivering a cast recording of our musical Black Love across streaming platforms. The ground work for this programme has begun and the Digital Producer will be taking over from the Line Producers who have commenced initial scoping, contracting and budgeting of the programme. Responsible to: Producer Working closely with: Artistic Director, Creative Associate, Producer, Associate Producer, Marketing Manager Key Responsibilities Producing and Delivery - Lead on the planning and delivery of the digital programme, working with the Artistic team to ensure innovative and accessible content supports the live programme of work. - Communicate the producing and delivery of the programme across the team and to coordinate each department to ensure a companywide, joined up approach to the work. - Manage the budget, contracting and licencing; working closely with Line Producers to ensure budgets are adhered to and optimised and that rights have been appropriately secured. - To manage and liaise with artists, contractors, filmmakers and editors in the creation of the content and to oversee the filming and editing process. - To contribute to ongoing planning for Paines Plough’s digital strategy through developing content ideas with the artistic team. Marketing and Distribution - To work with the Marketing Manager to develop a marketing campaign to support the distribution of the content with a specific focus on growing a digital audience for Paines Plough’s programme. - To ensure content is optimised for Paines Plough’s distribution platforms within Paines Plough’s resources. - Working with the Marketing and Producing team explore new distribution channels that can maximise reach and impact of the work. - Work with Paines Plough’s Executive Producer, Producer and Marketing Manager to set clear measureable outcomes for the programme in line with Paines Plough’s overall strategy. General - Representing Paines Plough at events and advocating for the company, its mission and values. - Adhere and contribute to all company policies and procedures. - Any other duties reasonably required by the organisation or line manager outside of the scope of those defined in this job description. Experience and attributes - A track record of project managing or producing the production of high quality, impactful digital content for the creative industries. - Highly organised with experience of managing multiple projects and excellent attention to detail. - Demonstrable experience of collaborating with a number of stakeholders and excellent communication skills. - A sound knowledge of digital formats and distribution with a desire to grow and innovate responsive to strategy and produced creative content. - A thorough understanding of audience engagement through digital production and an aspiration to develop new global audiences for cultural work. - An enthusiasm for new writing and theatre. Terms of Employment Salary: The fee will be £3,500 for 30 days work, allowing for the majority of activity to be undertaken during July and August (circa three days pw) with wash up and future planning undertaken during September, flexibly in line with the requirements of the programme. Contract: This is a freelance post, commencing as soon as is practicable in July until September. Hours: Paines Plough operates a flexible working policy with core office hours between 11:00-17:00 and a flexible working day operating from 09:00 – 19:00. Additional hours may be required to fulfil the role, including evening and weekend work for which no overtime is payable. A TOIL (time off in lieu) policy is in place. Location: It is envisaged that this role will be based at Paines Plough’s office in London, at 10 Leake Street, SE1 7NN. Some travel may be required to support Paines Plough’s events and productions. All work-related travel and accommodation will be covered by Paines Plough. Some remote working may be possible for this role in conversation with Senior Leadership team but attendance for filming and events in London is essential.
