DETROIT MUSIC HALL 2018-19 SEASON BROCHURE Music Hall is a 501(c)(3)non-profit corporation WWW.MUSICHALL.ORG
WE ARE FAMILY…. As we kick off our 90th season, we’re thinking about the millions and millions of people who have walked through our doors. My great grandmother attended shows at the Music Hall in the thirties, did yours? Ask around! Ask your mom and dad, aunts & uncles, brothers and sisters, kids, cousins, grandparents, great grandparents and even the great great grandparents -- what did they see at Music Hall? Did they share the music of the DSO in the forties or the drama of Tyler Perry in the nineties? How about the dances of Fred Astaire in the thirties? Surely they must have seen La Traviata by the Michigan Opera Theater in the seventies. The point is that we are going strong, younger and more exciting than ever! The 3 Fifty Terrace experience shows us how to be young and historic at the same time. Music Hall is simply a magical place that has always defied age, always stayed slightly in front of trends and patterns. We make things famous here, not the other way around. In these pages, you’ll learn about the incredible range of activities that make YOUR Music Hall so darn interesting. From performances to performing arts education, this 1928 variety house combines everyone’s A LETTER favorites with constant new discoveries. This year, we’re proud to unveil the beautifully-renovated Aretha’s Jazz FROM THE PRESIDENT & Cafe, honoring the lady who will forever be our Queen of Soul and giving ARTISTIC DIRECTOR residents and visitors a quintessentially ‘Aretha’ experience. And while Vince Paul you’re here, stop in and visit the fifth floor where ‘Good Evening Music Hall, Good Evening Detroit!”, the brand new Music Hall Archive Exhibition, offers an incomparable 21st ce. experience . You might just see pictures of your kids or your great great grandparents. You never know. As always… I’ll See You Downtown, Vince
