Daily Current Affairs for India first country to report 4 lakh casesapp_20201213 in single day India on Saturday registered 4,01,993 coronavirus cases, pushing the overall count of infections to 1,91,64,969 since the pandemic first broke out in India in January 2020. This is the highest ever single- day rise in cases reported by any country so far. This is first time any country has recorded more than 4 lakh daily cases. With 3,523 deaths, the toll climbed to 2,11,853. There are 32,68,710 active cases and the recovery tally stood at 1,56,84,406. India has so far administered over 15 crore coronavirus vaccine doses. Pfizer begins to export U.S. made COVID19 vaccine shots Pharma Giant Pfizer has now begun to export COVID-19 vaccine shots made in its US facilities. Earlier it was only exporting vaccine shots made in its Belgium production plant. The shipment of its COVID- 19 vaccine to Mexico this week includes doses made in its United States plant. The development comes after restriction imposed by former US President expired on 31 March this year. Pfizer has become the largest supplier of COVID-19 vaccine to Mexico after shipping over 10 million doses to the Latin American country

According to a report of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the ongoing political crisis will compound the socioeconomic impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. Consequently, close to 48.2 percent of the Myanmar population will live in poverty by 2022 compared to 24.8 percent in 2017. The World Bank has projected a 10 percent contraction in the Myanmar economy in 2021 due to a combination of several factors like insufficient stimulus and investment, government relief not matching earning losses among others. 44 people killed in stampede at religious gathering in Israel In Israel, 44 people were killed in a stampede that occurred at a religious gathering at Mount Meron . The tragedy struck when a large number of Jewish pilgrims had gathered at the site of the reputed tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, a second-century Talmudic sage. Authorities say at least 44 people have been killed and about 150 injured.

International flights ban extended till May 31 The suspension of scheduled international commercial passenger flights to or from India has been extended till May 31. The international scheduled flights under select routes, however, will remain operational on a "case-to-case" basis, the director-general of civil aviation (DGCA) said. Many countries including the US, UK, Kuwait, France and Canada have banned flights from India, citing COVID-19 cases and the "double mutant" virus being found in the country. Iran, Kuwait, Indonesia and UAE are the latest additions to this list of countries that have banned India from their citizens' travel lists.

These powers, in addition to helping with the provisioning of various services and works, will help the Formation Commanders to establish and operate quarantine facilities and hospitals and undertake procurement and repair of items and equipment. Ex-Attorney General Soli Sorabjee passes away Former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee, one of India's finest legal minds, died of Covid. He was 91. A senior lawyer and Padma Vibhushan recipient, Soli Sorabjee was being treated at a private hospital in Delhi. Mr Sorabjee became Attorney General first in 1989 and then from 1998 to 2004. He was involved in many landmark Supreme Court cases and argued for free speech and press freedom, limiting the police power of the state and a vibrant democracy protected from overreach by Prime Ministers and Governors. Mr Sorabjee was involved in the Kesavananda Bharti case that sought to protect the basic structure of the Constitution. He was also a part of the Bommai judgement, which cracked down on the misuse of Article 356 by the centre to dismiss state governments.

In 2020, consumer spending on EVs touched 120 billion dollars while car registrations rose by 41 per cent. International Energy Agency, IAE says, last year electric cars made up 4.6 per cent of overall car sales. People spent 50 per cent more than the previous year to buy a record three million electric cars. Around 500,000 electric vehicles were sold in China, the largest market for automobiles globally, followed by 450,000 across Europe. Reliance Q4 profit more than doubles Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd, or RIL, reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 13,227 crore for the quarter ended March 2021 (Q4), more than double the Rs 6,348 crore reported in the year-ago quarter. The top line, or revenue from operations, in the period under review grew 9.6 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 1.5 trillion, led by strong performance of its telecom and retail business and healthy growth in the O2C (oil-to-chemicals) segment.

Daily Current Affairs forcr. app_20201213 Yes Bank posts Q4 loss of Rs. 3,788 Private sector lender YES Bank has reported a higher-than-expected loss of Rs 3,787.75 crore for the quarter ended March 2021, dampened by elevated loan loss provisions and lower net interest income (NII). The loss in the year-ago quarter stood at Rs 3,668.33 crore. Net interest income, the difference between interest earned and interest expended, plunged 22.5 percent to Rs 986.7 crore during the quarter under review as compared to Rs 1,273.70 crore in the year-ago quarter. Forex reserves rise USD 1.701 bn to USD 584.107 bn India’s foreign exchange reserves increased by USD 1.701 billion to USD 584.107 billion in the week ended April 23, 2021, RBI data showed. In the previous week ended April 16, 2021, the reserves had risen by USD 1.193 billion to USD 582.406 billion. The reserves had touched a lifetime high of USD 590.185 billion in the week ended January 29, 2021. In the reporting week ended April 23, 2021, the rise in reserves was on account of an increase in foreign currency assets (FCAs), a major component of the overall reserves. FCA rose by USD 1.062 billion to USD 541.647 billion.
Daily Current Affairs Eight core industries' output upfor by 6.8%app_20201213 in March The combined output of the eight core industries rose by 6.8 per cent in March , a 32-month high as compared to a year ago. This increase has been led by a low-base effect. In the previous month of February, the output had contracted 3.8 per cent. The cumulative core sector output in FY21 fell to (- ) 7 per cent due to output contraction in as many as eight months of the financial year. The eight core industries comprise 40.27 per cent of the weight of items included in the index of industrial production (IIP). BCCI hints this year’s T20 World Cup could be moved to UAE due to COVID crisis in country Indian Cricket Board, BCCI, has hinted that this year’s T20 World Cup could be moved to the United Arab Emirates if the Covid-19 crisis does not subside in India. Dhiraj Malhotra, the general manager in BCCI, has said that UAE has been kept as back-up venue for this tournament to be held between October 18 to November 15, if the pandemic situation does not improve in India. A final decision though will only be taken in the ICC meeting in June.

The duo quickly mastered the art of shooting and participated in many national and international shooting competitions, winning over 350 medals each in the course of their veteran professional lives as shooters.
