Dear Friends of RLHS,
Let’s celebrate! Racine Lutheran High School is on
the cusp of an incredible milestone. Our yearlong
celebration of our 75th anniversary is almost here.
Our memories and milestones are merging with our
future hopes and dreams.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY STUDENT OF THE MONTH
I want to share a wonderful conversation I recently had with La Verne (Baker)

La Verne was a farm girl – an only child – who drove a team of horses, a
tractor, and on Fridays, her dad’s farm truck to the Mitchell Street Market in
Milwaukee. She needed to help support her parents’ farm so they could pay
her tuition at Racine Lutheran High School. I enjoyed her many stories and
photos from those good old days.
La Verne also shared that on the evening of June 6, 1948, the opening hymn
for the first graduation was “Let Us Ever Walk with Jesus”. The program noted:

thankful and to celebrate. We will soon announce many opportunities for
you to come back to RLHS and share your memories and reconnect with
old friends. This is also a time when we must come together to support
the future needs of the students who will be walking our halls for
the next 75 years.
