Careers News Week 3 Term 1, 2021 from Mr David Russell, Curriculum Co-ordinator (7-12) | Student Advisor (7-12) Early Entry Programs Various tertiary institutions have Early Offer Entry programs. These programs provide students with an opportunity to apply for university courses and gain a place before the main round offers which occur after ATAR’s are released. While the UAC information sheet for 2021 is yet to be updated, the edition provided by UAC for 2020 may provide some reference material for interested students at the moment… Undergraduate Fact Sheet: Early Offer Schemes for Year 12 Students (uac.edu.au) Each university that offers such a program has their particular requirements. It is useful to check on each institution’s website to see what they might offer. Macquarie University runs an early offer program called the Macquarie University Leaders and Achievers Program. More information will be available about the Macquarie University L&A program from representatives of the University when they visit to speak to Year 12. They are scheduled to visit during period 3a on 24th March. General information is available via the University’s website Macquarie leaders and achievers - Macquarie University (mq.edu.au) although it is not yet updated for 2021 There is a general early offer program that a number of Universities use called the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS). After having applied through UAC for a tertiary course at University, a student can then apply online at the UAC website for a recommendation from his/her school. The school’s recommendation is provided to UAC who then circulate it to the Universities the student has applied for. The Universities then use the information according to their own criteria in terms of making any early offers to students. More information can be obtained about the SRS program from the UAC website Early offer schemes for Year 12 students - UAC. This site also shows information about various other early offer programs run by various Universities, although information may not yet be updated for 2021.
