EC O ECO Update Presbytery of the Upper Midwest By Doug Dahl The Presbytery of the Upper Midwest held a gathering and a stated meeting on August 23-24 at Faith Presbyterian Church, Minnetonka. The gathering provided a time of fellowship, nurture, celebration, and teaching. The meeting was hosted by Pastor Buck Day and his team at Faith and moderated by Pastor David Lenz. Friday evening included dinner, a time of worship led by Pastor Doug Dye, and teaching led by Pastor Andrea Messinger, ECO National Flourishing Liaison who presented Trusting the Lord in the Change. Saturday breakfast was followed by a worship service led by Pastor Ron Hawkins, CPC, then a business meeting of the Presbytery. Stated Clerk Dennis Hykes presented the minutes for approval, provided attendees with required preparations for the Synod meeting in conjunc- tion with the National Gathering on February 6, 2020, and discussed ongoing plans for devel- oping the Presbytery’s new Operations Manual. I presented the Treasurer’s report on behalf of Treasurer Jerry Hulstein. Nominating Committee Chair Pam von Gohren led the Presbytery through the following actions: •Elect Vice Stated Clerk Doug Dahl as Stated Clerk effective January 1, 2020 (replacing Elder Dennis Hykes) •Elect Vice MPT Chair Dwight Netzer as MPT Chair effective January 1, 2020 (replacing Pastor Mark Frueh) •Elect Pastor John Ward as Vice Moderator effective immediately, and as Moderator effective January 1, 2020 (replacing Pastor Dave Lenz) •Elect Pastor Doug Dye as Vice PMOT Chair effective immediately (to eventually replace Pastor Terry Simm) Ministry Partnership Team Chair Mark Frueh introduced three members who recently trans- ferred into our Presbytery: Pastor Ron Hawkins, Transitional Pastor CPC; Pastor Doug Dye, Honorably Retired; and Pastor Sara Brown, At Large. Mark introduced a motion to recognized Pastor Judie Ritchie as Honorably Retired. The motion carried. Other business included announcements for the 2020 National Gathering in Grapevine, Texas February 3-6, 2020 including the next Presbytery Meeting on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.
