REFLECTION

                       A Poem by Debra Harrison

To Bear Witness by Debra Harrison

Walk in prepared.
You will be the anchor
   In the coming storm.
Take a deep breath
   then say it.
   "There is bad news..."

Then be present.
   Hold them
   with your eyes
   with your heart
   with your arms
      if they'll let you.

Watch for the signs.
   The shock,
   the denial,
   the tears,
   the recognition.
Be sure they really heard.
   Information and any
   offering of hope comes later.
Be ready to clarify and repeat.

Just sit and be with them.
   Nod,
   and cry,
      if they'll let you.

                 Sales for Survivors!
The time has come! Sales For Survivors is BGHP's annual "shop and dine for a
cause" campaign held during the month of October. BGHP promotes these
partnerships through social media, our website, and direct publicity to over
4,000 BGHP supporters via our mailed and electronic newsletters. We also
provide posters, brochures and other promotional materials for your
                            business to display!

Sales For Survivors is a win/win/win for local businesses that participate, the
Breast & GYN Health Project and most importantly for the friends and family
in Humboldt County who are able to access cancer support services!
Participating in Sales For Survivors is a great opportunity to increase sales at
your business, distinguish your local business as a supporter of BGHP, and
provide essential financial support for the resources that our community
                               members need.

If you are interested in being a participating business for
October 2021, please call us at 707-825-8345 or email
                  volunteer@hcbhp.org - thank you!

NANCY NOLL LIBRARY

Information is the antidote for fear

The Nancy Noll Library was built from a generous 50th Birthday
fundraiser organized by Nancy Noll in May 1998, in hopes to educate and
empower those along their cancer journey.

If you've read a book from our Lending Library and would like to share your
thoughts with others, email volunteer@hcbhp.org to submit a book review.
