Commodore’s introduction Cowes Week is a unique and special event in the summer calendar with a wealth of history and tradition. The regatta also looks forward this year welcoming the Sail GP Event to Cowes. The 50knt foiling multihulls will be a spectacular sight after Cowes Week racing on the first Saturday and Sunday. There is also a change in timing this year with the Rolex Fastnet Race before Cowes Week. Both events are connected by tradition and participants and the planning allows yachts and crews to be back in Cowes for the regatta. To compete in both events in today’s world is an achievement in itself, a challenge some of our members will rise to! To start off the club events I look forward to welcoming members, guests and returning Rolex Fastnet competitors to the Commodore’s Cocktail Party on Saturday 10th August. Later in the week we have the Corinthian Ball and Crew Party. The Terrace Restaurant will once again offer a menu of quality local food, including the famous seafood platter. Our staff and volunteers put in a huge amount of hard work to give us a wonderful week of events and our club bar and restaurant to enjoy. I would like to thank all those involved for their contribution. I hope that you have an enjoyable and successful regatta. Steven Anderson Commodore 3
