Fitness Initiative for Grades Pre-K through Grade 5 Welcome to Bedford Kids: Stronger Together, The Quest for 72,000 Miles and Beyond The Bedford Recreation Department invites you to participate in an initiative designed to bring kids (and families) together to stay strong, healthy and well during these challenging times. In this fitness tracking program, “distance” may be calculated by actual distance (such as a hike on a Bedford trail, laps around the track or laps around the block) or by time with 15 minutes of exercise counting as one “mile.” All exercises and wellness activities count! From mindfulness to yoga to jog- ging to shooting baskets to walking the dog or playing in the backyard, it all counts! To share your information, there is a simple Google Form. You just give us your information, how many miles you completed that day, and hit submit. Weekly, we will randomly select a participant to feature. We will share your favorite fitness activities and accomplishments! Follow the milestone link to see examples of distance travelled from Bedford. Calculate your personal milestones, for instance, how far is it to your grandparents’ house? Individual achievement may be tracked using the printable calendar on the Bedford Kids: Stronger Together webpage. Group milestones will be posted periodically as well. Can we make it to 72,000 miles in one month (roughly two miles per day per Davis and Lane student)? Check out the site links for terrific local opportunities such as trails, athletic fields and parks. Information about this program and associated links may be found at www.bedfordrecreation.org We are excited to take this journey with you!
