Busy times at Hopetoun CRC

■ HOPETOUN CRC

We’ve had a very busy few weeks running lots of workshops
for our community and its visitors.
Our Basic Sewing workshop was a colourful affair with bright
tie dye and spotty PJ pants being made.
Many thanks to Sonja Groenwald for running us through the
lesson. We learnt about different types of fabric, how to read
a pattern, how to prepare your pattern and fabric and of
course how to sew! ■ New skills were learnt in the recent sewing workshop with

Precision was the key to getting the perfect fit with Sonja
supporting us the whole way. Each participant took home
a completed pair of pyjama pants as well as resources
and new skills. If you are keen for us to run another sewing
workshop, please get in touch.
Len Metcalf, Sydney based photography teacher, inspired
and educated us on all things photography when he came to
Hopetoun to run a workshop earlier this month.
Len travelled to Fitzgerald River National Park for the first
time in September last year and vowed to return to explore
our stunning Biosphere region. Len is an incredible teacher
with many years of experience.
Len’s Hopetoun workshop was a mixed group with varying
levels of skill, quite different to his usual participants who
are typically very experienced, qualified photographers
and artists who travel from all over the world to attend his workshops. Len thoroughly enjoyed the weekend saying that
