COSY Busts a Move at Dave and Busters Westbury, NY – Nov 21 – Twenty teens and pre-teens from COSY joined together for an evening of fun, competition, prizes, and food on Erev Thanksgiving, the night before Thanksgiving. The evening started off with Pizza and soda at Ohav, followed by the quick drive to Dave and Busters in Westbury. (A special thanks to Gary Friedman, Fay Duftler, Noam Baruch, and Robin and David Hauser for driving). Once at Dave and Busters, everyone received their Ian Hauser and David game cards, complete with 150 electronic tickets, Reitano playing allowing for an hour and a half of game play. All Deal or No Deal the kids walked around the game arena in groups, with excitement to play. The games ranged from air hockey, competitive Pac Man, Wheel of Fortune, and skeeball, to all sorts of shooting games, Tetris games, trivia games, dancing competitions, and many, many others. There were many notable moments throughout the evening, from high scores, silly games, prizes, and a lot of fun.

Thanksgiving and Thanksgetting Long Beach, NY – Nov 22 – The Young Israel of Long Beach held a Thanksgiving Dinner open to the community, following the devastation suffered by so many in and around Long Beach from the recent hurricane. The focus of the evening was Thanks on so many levels, and sharing a meal meant warm food and warm friends, and a welcoming community. Over 20 volunteers came from Merrick, West Hempstead and Long Beach to help make this celebration of thanks happen. Volunteers prepared food, set tables, and served both food and smiles throughout the evening. Younger volunteers made Happy Thanksgiving and Welcome Home signs to decorate the room that would later serve over 200 people. As hard as everyone worked, each person went home with a full stomach and a smile on their face. The many local residents who attended were tremendously grateful for the Behinds the scenes work from Ilana Green, Jessica Green, and help and happiness the volunteers brought Julia Weiner to the community on this special day. This was a dinner that the Ohav volunteers and Abigail Kazan and Rebecca Levy the Long Beach community members said making welcome they would never forget. signs for the dinner For the many volunteers celebrating a Thanksgiving meal with family and friends later that evening, this special event served as another reminder how lucky we all really are, and why we should be thankful for what we have.
