P5 P5 have worked so hard this year and we have made so many lovely memories. This June we enjoyed a Teddy bears picnic, pizza day and a sports day with some of the other classes. We are looking forward to our Summer holidays.
PP1 We have had an exciting term in PP1. We have been out and about around the community, exploring the local area and visiting the parks. We have also had lots of fun around our school campus, with a visit from reptiles, a teddy bears picnic in the “secret garden” and a cinema day in our classroom. The students have all had a fantastic year in PP1, and are ready for a well-deserved rest over the summer.
PP2 PP2 have been working hard this semester and we have really enjoyed the year. We have all bonded so much this year and have created some amazing friendships within the classroom. June was particularly enjoyable as we got out to the playground in the beautiful weather, enjoyed a sports day with some other classes, went on a Teddy Bear’s picnic and had a reptile day to mention just some of the wonderful memories we got to create. We’ve danced, sang and most importantly laughed our way through a year of ups and downs. We will all miss the little family we have created in PP2 but look forward to the future as all of the students’ progress through the school.
We had a busy time here in PP3 over the last term. Everybody did lots of PP3 great work. We enjoyed the fine weather and got out almost every day for a walk or a game of football in the park. We have amazing students here in class, very good footballers and lots of creative people. Drawing of class by Faith O Hagan.
Our class have been working really hard at being more independent and mature and it’s great to see how much they’ve progressed this year. We’ve all PP4 Independent Travel missed going on trips on public transport but have made a big effort to get out and about in our local community. All of the class has improved at crossing the Skills roads safely and we’ve been exploring the steps needed for independent travel. Here’s a picture of us walking up to Stillorgan to show a few students their bus stop.
PP5 We had a fantastic year in PP5, all of the students worked hard in so many different areas, We had students learning to swim for the first time, another teaching her karate moves and even had some puppets in the class. Everyone worked hard online during the lockdown. Luckily for PP5, we were able to go on a trip to Carysfort Park in June and have a pizza day. Dominos delivered yummy pizza's to the school. We are looking forward to our summer break now.
PP6 PP6 have had a fantastic term full of great friendships. Our favourite activities are the things we do in groups, including gorgeous group art lessons, group games during free time and chatting together during our weekly Chat Café!
PP7 We’ve had a super summer term in PP7. We ate pizza, picked up litter, stroked lizards and snakes, danced and sang songs. Looking forward to seeing everyone back in September safe, well and refreshed. Have a lovely summer!
PP8 Some of us have been busy learning to knit and crochet. We made a hairband, a blanket and some teddies. We have also had a lovely time doing yoga for the month of June. Congratulations to Abbie in our class who won a prize in a Dun Laoghaire Rathdown poster competition.
PV1
PV1 One of the highlights of the year in PV1 was when we got to see some of the reptiles that came to visit the school. Well done to all of the students in PV1, I hope you are all very proud of your achievements this year. Wishing everyone a great summer break!
PV2 take a weekly Thursday trek around our local communities of Blackrock and Stillorgan. It is a great chance to see what facilities we have near our school. Here we are having a rest after a very long walk.
PV3 have worked hard on their J.C.S.P. statements this year and achieved numerous PV3 certificates. Although it was a difficult year we did not let Covid stop us working hard and also enjoying ourselves. We met some interesting reptiles and enjoyed ice cream in the sun.
Home Economics - Pre-Vocational JCSP Sustainability As part of the Junior Cycle Home Economics Programme we learned about being kind to our world so that it is here for future generations (the people who come after us). To celebrate what we learned during the year we decided to throw a party Saint Augustine’s style and wow do we know how to throw a party!! We decided to celebrate our knowledge of sustainability alongside National Fish and Chip Day. All pre-vocational students got in on the action!!

The students successfully grew lots of salad leaves and herbs along with strawberries, rhubarb and raspberries, beetroots, carrots, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower and lots of peas! The garden party was a huge success as you can see and we would like to thank all vocational staff for their hard work and help on the day! Yoga and Meditation in Vocational 1 Students and staff really enjoyed doing yoga and meditation again this year, particularly when the weather improved and we could go outside! Students in first and second year learned many poses and sequences that they can continue to practice at home and they also learned some different techniques for relaxation and stress relief!
Wow – Walk on Wednesday This year the Green School Committee is applying for our Green Flag in Travel. As part of this application every Wednesday the Vocational students enjoyed participating in their WOW. The school is very lucky to have a lovely big green space beside the school and some beautiful parks nearby. The students enjoyed exploring nature while out on our walks. Also it was a great time to 'Walk and Talk' to their friends which helped develop new friendships and social skills.

Graduate Orchard As part of our graduation activites we held a tree planting ceremony on 25th June. Two apple trees were planted by our Vocational 2 as a reminder of how much they will continue to grow and blossom when they leave St Augustine's. This part of our school has been renamed the Graduate Orchard.
Busy time in Vocational skills! With the Covid restrictions in place meant that while we couldn’t go out, we had a lot more to do in the areas. Hand washing, temperature checks and PPE became our buzz words! The students were great and adapted to our regime really well. Technology organised a couple of very successful fundraisers and our Christmas shop Vocational was really successful too so a big thank you for all the support. Great work progressed in PCP, Personal Effectiveness and Work Training, Skills Area Zooms taking place during lockdown,(Mark nearly became a celebrity chef!) although sadly work experience had to be put on hold. Damien has been facilitating the canteen as an eating area since February, and occasional cakes would appear thanks to Mark’s (catering) students ! Mr. Laheen continues to produce fabulous bedding plants which are decorating the campus liberally (and can be purchased for your own garden!) Hopefully next year will be more normal for us all.
Sponsored walk organised by Parents Association Parents and students of P5 participated in doing 5k walk in Cabinteely Park. Everyone had a great time and they raised a whooping €8,000 for the sensory garden in St Augustine's.
