ESS – Active Cell Viewing System The active cells facility is a windowless hot cell operated from the remote control room. The operator views of the equipment and components in the cells are only through the Viewing System cameras. Hence the viewing system must be highly reliable and provide a combination of wide area views (safety) and operational views (inspection, process monitoring, etc.) W idely varying specs based on type of view and position: • A combination of high and low radiation tolerant cameras, B&W and Colour • Typical specification radiation tolerant from 10kGy to 1MGy TID(*) (1 10 Gy/hr) Tilt range Camera Pan & Tilt Units • Picture Resolution: from 576p to 1080p 90º • Capable of being remotely handled by the ACF • Zoom Range: 70º 20º (diagonal FoV) -70º Robotic Handling system • Auto/Manual focus and iris capability -90º • Capable of being mounted on wall brackets in (*) Total Integration Dose over ESS lifecycle 90º Pan range the cells or on moveable stands • Pan range 90˚ COMMERCIAL | • Tilt Range -70˚ 90˚
ESS Active Cells Fabricated Assemblies 15/06/2018 22 | RACE-ESS-TEM-0038 COMMERCIAL
Fabricated Assemblies Procurement Procurement will consist of 3 main parts: • Waste Storage Baskets. • Target Station Component Support Structures. • Large lifting adaptors. The exact nature of the procurement has not been finalised, however at present it is expected that the scope will be for the design and manufacture of all the items based on provided requirements specification. A Negotiated procedure is expected, that will allow for the scope and risk profile of the procurement to be adjusted. If the scope can defined well enough that an Open procedure can be used, this MAY be done. 23 | RACE COMMERCIAL
Waste Storage Boxes • A parametric design will be needed to allow a range of Waste Storage Boxes (WSBs) to be manufacture by ESS as they are needed. The boxes will be placed within an existing shielded container approximately 3mx2mx1m and will allow for: • A range of packing patterns from a single box up to six boxes. • Different shielding thicknesses ranging from 50mm up to 200mm. • A single WSB will be manufactured for use in the Acceptance Review of the Active Cells. • Expected requirements as follow: • When full, lifts from the lid using set twist lock pattern, • Removable sides. • Process to tilt onto one side when empty and back to vertical when full. • Maximum loaded weight is 25,000kg. • Stainless Steel Structure • No safety requirements in excess of those relating to standard lifting accessories. 24 | RACE COMMERCIAL
Target Station Component Supports When Target Station components are introduced into the cell, a set of support structures are required to fix their location and provide stability. These include: • A receiving fixture to locate and support components as they are lowered into the cell. • Storage racks to support a number of Target Station components whilst they are waiting to be processed. General Requirements: • Interface with existing floor bolting pattern. • Stainless Steel construction (or very prescriptive painting rules). • Will have to support a maximum horizontal force TBD a fixed height from the floor 25 | RACE COMMERCIAL
Lifting Adaptors A lifting adaptor to allow the lifting of a >8000kg section of target station component using the in cell Grapple. 26 | RACE COMMERCIAL
Electrical Work Package Procurement Overview The Electrical Power and Signalling system is responsible for providing electrical services into the Active Cells from supplier control cubicles to supplier equipment. The Active Cells are a radiological area that will require a degree of radiation tolerance within the designed electrical system. The electrical system is a critical part of the operation of the Facility. Maintenance Cell Process Cell Active Cell Facility Overview COMMERCIAL 27 |
