Welcome to Brooklands Museum and our programme of events for June to December 2018. We are thrilled to announce that the Museum has been selected as an Art Fund Museum of the Year 2018 Finalist. Supported by Art Fund, the Museum of the Year Award seeks out and celebrates innovation and exceptional achievement in museums and galleries across the UK. Brooklands’ nomination marks the culmination of one of the Museum’s most important periods in its 27-year history, with a spectacular transformation of the site in 2017 thanks to the Brooklands Aircraft Factory and Race Track Revival project. The project culminated in the opening of the Brooklands Aircraft Factory and Flight Shed exhibitions last November. These two huge spaces tell the unique story of aviation manufacture, assembly and testing at the
site over an 80 year period. Inside the Aircraft Factory you can try for yourself aircraft-building techniques that were practised here using the interactive work stations, design your own aircraft of the future or sit in the cockpits of two of our aircraft in the Flight Shed. Be sure to join us on June 16th and 17th when we mark the anniversary of the opening of the track with the Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival, which this year will fully incorporate the restored Finishing Straight and working replica Paddock Scoreboard, transporting visitors and participants back to the heyday of racing that Brooklands is famous for. After this, we have our usual varied programme of events covering motorsport, auctions, single marque days, military and retro events and some fantastic learning opportunities too. On most event days there will be activities for children, car or engine runs and the chance for you to be involved with your vehicle or interest group or Club. The school holidays will be a hive of activity with our legendary Car Rides, trails and workshops.

This year, to mark the centenary of the end of World War
One, we are challenging young photographers to illustrate ‘Daily
Life in Wartime’ at Brooklands. Look around the museum, you
will discover lots of objects in our sheds and buildings.
During the summer holidays (until 3rd September) make sure
you capture objects from the past at Brooklands that you
see around the museum and submit the photos to our Young
Photographer Competition!

From Tuesday to Friday during the Half Term our
legendary Car Rides will be running passenger
rides up Test Hill and along the steep Members’
Banking on the the Race Track. We’ll also be
running special Kids Tours on Concorde and three
dynamic rides in the 4D Theatre. Meanwhile,
youngsters will be able to build their own bi-plane
in the family workshop and meet Bertie Bear
roaming the site looking for fans!

Held on the weekend closest to the Anniversary of
the original opening of the Brooklands Race Track in
1907, this event celebrates Brooklands’ rich motoring
history. The two-day extravaganza features Speed
Trials, Driving Tests, the prestigious
Double Twelve Concours and Test Hill
ascents, alongside family-
friendly entertainment

Expect cars with actual Brooklands history as heaps
of veterans, vintage and classics compete in Speed
Trials, Driving Tests and a Concours across two
days of exceptional motoring action in the historic

Motorcycle enthusiasts, no matter what they ride or from what era, all are welcome to come and enjoy the spectacle. The event will showcase some of the historic bikes in the Museum collection, many of which will be demonstrated by the Brooklands Motorcycle Team. Alongside them, latest models will be on display, along with an impressive line-up of other manufacturers. The site will be roaring to life as many of the vehicles take to the newly restored Finishing Straight for race starts. Period spectators’ cars will be parked up on site too and we will be running ascents up Test Hill and a cavalcade on the circuit at neighbouring Mercedes-Benz World. events per annum16TH SEPTEMBER Aviation Day Touchdown at Brooklands Museum for a kerosene- fuelled day of aviation antics and activities. The Museum’s aircraft will be open for visitors to explore, and our live aircraft will be wheeled out onto the restored Finishing Straight for engine runs. There will be plenty of aviation-themed family activities throughout the day, including our popular Pedal Planes for under 5s and an aviation-themed workshop in the Shell Pagoda. Please see 7th July listing for further details. 30TH SEPTEMBER Brooklands Great War Day Join us as we mark the centenary of the end of World War One, with a special event encompassing the many aspects of Brooklands’ involvement in the Great War of 1914 – 1918. For this special event we will be gathering automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, commercial vehicles, buses and aircraft from the period up to 1919. 14TH OCTOBER Autumn Motorsport Day Don’t miss the last major motoring event of the year on the Brooklands calendar – an annual fixture that offers spectators a chance to get up close to some incredible machines. If it is exotic, loud, glamorous or expensive, then you are in with a chance of seeing it at this event. Competition cars of all ages and from all over the world will congregate in and around the Paddock, filling the Motoring Village and Finishing Straight. There will be plenty of action, with many of the cars demonstrating on the Mercedes-Benz World Circuit and blasting up Test Hill. Expect to see a wide variety of competition cars from Formula 1, F5000 and GTs to touring cars and Group B rally cars. Extra entry fees apply, see website for details. 4TH NOVEMBER Autumn Classic Breakfast Welcoming all kinds of Classic, Veteran and Supercars, the Classic Breakfast is open to all. Breakfast is served from 8am – 9.45am so arrive early to make sure you get parked up. Vehicles will be allocated a parking area on site by our marshals – please follow signage on the day. For prices, menu and timings please see main website: www.brooklandsmuseum.com 18TH NOVEMBER Military Vehicles Day Scores of vehicles spanning the decades and representing the field of conflict from around the world will descend on the site for our annual Military Vehicles Day. As well as the spectacular displays in the Paddock and around the site, there will be the chance to see some of these machines put through their paces as they tackle Test Hill and the off-road circuit at Mercedes-Benz World. vigation equipment.WINTER AT BROOKLANDS MUSEUM Torchlight Tours During the winter months, we invite you to come and see the darker side of the Museum in one of our Torchlight Tours. Come armed with good walking shoes, your own torch and warm clothing and our guide will lift the lid on some of the spooky stories and allow special access into parts of the site not normally open. end when the clocks change in October. Last
admission is one hour before closing. These times
may be extended on event days so please check
the website for up to date event information before

as we are a NO DOGS SITE and they will be refused
