Committee on Trauma 100th Anniversary Celebration Transforming Trauma Care for Optimal Outcomes Join us for a year of celebration! We will honor the legacy of those who came before us, recognize our present achievements, and look to the future of injury prevention, trauma surgery, and care of the injured patient. Celebrate Our Leaders Celebrate past, current, and future leaders, all dedicated to setting standards and creating programs to eliminate preventable death and disability across the globe by preventing injury and improving the outcomes of trauma patients. Advocate for the Injured Patient Help us raise public awareness of traumatic injury as a major public health issue and advocate for investment in trauma system development and sustainable research funding commensurate with the public health burden of injury. Celebration at the COT Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress 2022 COT ANNUAL MEETING CELEBRATION The ACS COT will kick off its 100th anniversary celebration in Seattle, WA, at the 2022 COT Annual Meeting, Wednesday through Friday, March 9–11, and at the ATLS Global Symposium, Saturday, March 12. Wednesday, March 9 COT Member Pillar Meetings | All Day Thursday, March 10 COT Member Pillar Meetings | Morning Regional Meetings | Morning 45th Annual Resident Trauma Papers Competition | Afternoon Our celebration officially begins on Thursday afternoon with our 45th Annual Resident Trauma Papers Competition. Previous COT Vice-Chairs will moderate the session, and former competition winners will serve as paper discussants. Meet the Legends Networking Reception | Evening This special event will wrap up the evening with special opportunities for book signings and pictures. Friday, March 11 Plenary Sessions | All Day Reflections on the Impact of the COT—Past Chairs share their thoughts on the COT’s 100 years of contributions to all areas related to quality surgical care. Regional COT, Military, International ATLS—Explore the history and importance of these groups to the COT, its programs, and its impact on patient care across the globe. Looking to the Future—Current and future leaders will highlight new programs and emerging projects as they share their vision for the future of the COT and trauma care. 100th Anniversary Reception and Banquet | Evening The day will conclude with a 100th anniversary celebratory reception and banquet, where we also will honor the leadership transition of the COT Chair and Medical Director. Celebration at the COT Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress 2022 ACS CLINICAL CONGRESS CELEBRATION The ACS COT will continue the 100th anniversary celebration in conjunction with the ACS Clinical Congress 2022, October 16–20, with events such as Scudder Oration on Trauma, a Special Session examining the accomplishments and a vision for the future of the COT, and, not to be missed, our annual banquet and reception celebrating 100 years. CLICK HERE AND LET US KNOW COT 100th Anniversary Commemorative Book The COT 100th anniversary commemorative book, Looking to the Future through the Lens of Legacy, covers the history of the COT with a focus on how the work of the COT has transformed trauma care from 1922, present day initiatives, and projecting a vision for the future. Copies of the book will be available for purchase starting in early 2022 and on-site during the COT Annual Meeting. Contributors of $2,022 or more to the FTL100 Campaign will receive a complimentary copy of the book. Be sure to have your copy of the book with you throughout the celebration at in-person events to have it signed by contributing authors, COT leaders and members, and legends in the COT. COT Mission The mission of the Committee on Trauma is to develop and implement programs that support injury prevention and ensure optimal patient outcomes across the continuum of care. These programs incorporate advocacy, education, trauma center and trauma system resources, best practice creation, outcome assessment, and continuous quality improvement.

During the two-year mentored program, Future Trauma Leaders collaborate on active COT projects, learn valuable skills through their participation, and develop relationships that support their career development. Their participation in the program has far-reaching and long-lasting effects. You are invited to invest in the future of trauma surgery by contributing to this campaign, thereby helping to ensure mentorship opportunities into the future. Donors to the FTL100 campaign who contribute $2,022 or more will receive a complimentary copy of the COT100 commemorative book, Looking to the Future through the Lens of Legacy. Donations or pledges received prior to the Wednesday of Clinical Congress 2021 will also have their names included in the commemorative book’s donor listing.
