Clemens Center 2021-22 Season THE GRAND Re-opening Season – Act I featuring An Officer And A Gentleman • WAITRESS Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical Roald Dahl’s Charlie & Chocolate Factory Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific • Schoolhouse Rock Live!
Hello Again! e have certainly missed your presence at the Clemens Center since we were closed in March 2020, and we are SO excited to be able to open our doors again and welcome you back! You will notice some changes to our personnel, our volunteers, and building amenities. While the venue was dark, we took the opportunity to make repairs and improvements, and we hope that means you will enjoy your visits here more than ever. Our 2021-22 Broadway season is full, with a 5-show subscription series, and two shows carried over from 2019-20. There may be some unannounced surprises coming, too, so be sure to sign up on our website for Email notices for the latest information. As a practical matter, we will split the Mary Tripp Marks School-Time Series between virtual, in the fall, and in-person shows in the spring. The John G. Ullman & Associates Foundation, Inc. Family Connex Series will also follow the same format. You can expect our Resident Companies to return, outside promoters to bring their shows, and many annual community events to resume. The Clemens Center will also host two first national touring Broadway productions for 34 straight days of technical rehearsals in October and November (An Officer And A Gentleman and OKLAHOMA!). The tours receive a tax credit for launching their shows in New York State, and Downtown Elmira and Chemung County benefit from hundreds of cast and crew members who stay in our hotels, patronize local bars and restaurants, and visit attractions. The rehearsals and performances provide thousands of dollars in work for I.A.T.S.E. Local 289 stagehands, wardrobe, and others in the community. We are proud of the quality of life we generate and the positive economic impact our organization has across the region. We invite you to become a volunteer, to take advantage of the benefits of becoming a member, and if you’re a business owner, to share that membership opportunity with all of your employees by becoming a sponsor. The Clemens Center was sustained during the pandemic by patrons just like you. Thank you for all you did to ensure the future of the live performing arts in Elmira. Now, let’s enjoy the show!
