Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) Welcome to ECFE You are your child’s first and most important teacher. Our affordable ECFE classes support you in this role. Join now to strengthen your parenting skills and discover activities to help your child grow and develop. Most classes meet once a week for two hours or less and include the 3 components described below. Quality childcare is provided on site for a fee for siblings not enrolled in class. Parent Education • Facilitated by a licensed parent education teacher. • Focused on research-based topics related to child and parent development. • Discuss topics including child development, temperament traits, discipline and more while the children play during the Children’s Learning time with the guidance of the early childhood teacher. Children’s Learning • Children continue to learn with the early childhood teacher and a trained para- professional while parents participate in the Parent Education class. • Children practice social skills through play with others. • Children explore and gain independence. Parent-Child Interaction • Experience play-and-learn activities to enhance your child’s language, pre-reading and math skills guided by licensed teachers in early childhood and parent education. • Sing songs and listen to stories at cir- cle time, and leave your ECFE class with new ideas to try at home. 3

Toddlers and Parents Busy Bodies Two year-olds are terrific and have very busy bodies. Come to play with activities designed just for two’s. Parents separate from the children for parent education to learn about setting limits, temper- ament traits, toilet learning and other toddler parenting topics. See fees on page 10. Sibling childcare is available for classes that meet during the day. Sibling is not available during evening classes. Preschool Play is a key component in our preschool classes for children ages 2½ to 5 years, because research shows that it is essential to the children’s learning and critical for their development.
