It is a safe sport that holds great interest for the “intellectual athlete”. This is a one week long summer chess camp, with instructional staff provided by Progress with Chess, Ohio’s largest chess teaching organization. Students will be placed in small groups according to age and skill level and engage in interactive lessons and problem solving. Ample time will be allotted for structured open play and challenging our instructors. There will be short breaks in the morning and afternoon with opportunities for physical activity. Chess sets, clocks and written curriculum provided. Full day campers, please pack a brown bag lunch and drink daily. AQUATICS SCC Aquatics Indoor Pool Information Please note that the Community Center Indoor Pool is not open for Open Swim. Members using the CC Indoor Pool will be required to enter through the front of the Community Center to check-in. Adult 14 and Over Lap Swim or Water Walking / Exercise The Solon Community Center Indoor Pool will continue to be open for members only reserving swim time. Monday - Friday 6:00am - 7:30pm Saturday & Sunday 8:00am - 5:30pm The Lap Lanes will be available to reserve in 30 minute increments. Members are able to reserve up to 1 continuous hour per day. The Current Stream is available at any time we are open except Mondays at 12pm—1pm due the River Run Class. Members may make reservations no more than 2 weeks in advance through our new Civic Rec Software. The process for reserving the lap lanes will be the same. Your Cooperation Is Appreciated We are not fully through the government mandated restrictions. Please remember to be respectful of others, Social Distance at least 6 feet and wear your mask while you are in close proximity of other people or moving throughout the building. AFTER SCHOOL S PROGRAMS After School Programs are offered through Solon Center for the Arts & Solon Parks & Recreation. Children are bused from Lewis, Parkside and Roxbury Elementary Schools directly to our facilities on Solon School Buses. PLEASE BE ADVISED of the rules put forth by the Solon Schools for the 2022-2023 school year … Each child is permitted 2 drop off locations, including (1) home & (2) choice of ONE day care. According to these rules, children will need to pick either SCA or REC as they will NOT be able to bounce back and forth. Please remember to fill out the OPT-IN BUS FORM the schools will release shortly. AFTER YOU COMPLETE OUR REGISTRATION ON MAY 21, you must then complete the DAY CARE FORM to indicate which after school program you will be attending. Registering for After School Programs with the City of Solon does not guarantee you space on a Solon School Bus … Parents MUST complete all necessary forms from the schools. Limited space available, register early! Children will receive a small snack upon arrival to After School, however, parents can pack an additional snack in their book bags if your child tends to need more in the afternoons. SCA SUMMER ARTS CAMPS MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP GOING INTO GRADES 3 - 8 This popular five-week camp will introduce the basic principles of acting, singing and movement as students will work towards producing an hour long production. Students will have fun learning theater games and techniques from SCA Staff including a director, music director and choreographer. The workshop will conclude with a performance in July.
