www.ugm.org STATEMENT OF FAITH Serving those in greatest need is how we put our faith into action. We serve anyone in need regardless of their religious beliefs or backgrounds. We affirm our Christian identity with the following statements: 1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the infallible, authoritative Word of God 2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory. 4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. 5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. 6. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. 7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
www.ugm.org THE ORGANIZATION Founded in 1932, Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission began by serving soup to thousands of homeless and unemployed people during the Great Depression. Since then, The Mission has been providing safe shelter, nutritious food, addiction recovery, dental, medical and mental health care, and a broad variety of life changing programs for over 83 years. Through partnering with churches, local governments and other organizations, The Mission is doggedly committed to solving the root causes of poverty and homelessness. They are willing to go to the ‘dark and messy’ places to overcome the ever-changing landscape and geography of poverty with passionate urgency. Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission is committed to an aggressive 2025 strategic plan. The hope is that the work of The Mission over the next 10 years would so significantly impact Seattle’s neighborhoods and communities that the world would take notice. Not so The Mission would gain fame of notoriety, but that others would take notice and give glory to God. The plan requires continuing to mobilize and recruit an army of churches, volunteers and partners with the vision of making Seattle the #1 Volunteering City in America! www.ugm.org THE OPPORTUNITY The position at The Mission represents an outstanding opportunity to serve an inspiring, Christ- centered organization battling poverty and homelessness in Seattle and King County. The Mission has seen steady financial growth through the recession. The community continues to believe in its work and support The Mission’s excellence in ministry despite economic factors that have negatively impacted other serving organizations. The CFO reports to Cornelius Lee, Chief Administrative Officer. He/she will oversee a team of people and will also have the opportunity to hire additional team members, including an Accounting Manager and Senior Financial Analyst. The CFO will play an integral role in helping The Mission achieve its aggressive strategic plan 2025. He/she will be able to continue to improve internal systems, processes and structures bringing best practices to the department. With meticulous accuracy and efficiency, the CFO will create and communicate financial results that drive data-driven decisions that are key to the organization’s future. The CFO will have the opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial and innovative culture, driven to meet needs in creative and impactful ways – he/she will build the financial case for (or against) sustainability, operational effectiveness and success. This is a very important role in the life of this organization at this time! WHO IS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE? The ideal candidate embodies a servant-leader approach with a deep dedication to meeting the needs of others through an active faith, with demonstrated service to Jesus Christ. He/she will have a desire to align their faith and work within a Christian organization and feels a call to be part of a mission having an outstanding impact. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated success in accounting and finance – reporting, audit, analysis, GAAP, budgeting, forecasting. We are also seeking a futuristic, forward-thinker who is able to make data-driven and projection-based decisions. Bachelor’s degree required, MBA and/or CPA preferred. He/she will have demonstrated success overseeing and managing a team. The new CFO will bring strong relationship building talents that will positively impact his/her team. He/she will bring experience contributing to initiatives that involve vision, strategy, maximizing financial resources and planning for the future. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator; able to comprehend complex financial data and be able to help others understand it, as well as project the future implications and opportunities of it. Accuracy, integrity, humility with a drive for excellence are key qualities in the ideal CFO.

Give an example of a time when you had to forecast and project into the future and how you used your financial acumen to do so? What was the result? 5. Please describe your experience leading and managing a team. What is your management style, leadership philosophy and what strengths you use to motivate others?
