THE PROGRAMME Monday 14th January Registration opens at 15:00 CET Please note that you can register online when your yacht signs up to attend the Show. Successful entries will be emailed to confirm their participation soon after the yacht’s attendance has been accepted. Please make sure that you use an email address that you access on a regular basis. Monday 29th April Competition Briefing 14:00 (Hospitality Area) The exact time that judges will come on board will be announced at the briefing. Tuesday 30th April Judging Yachts - largest category* Wednesday 1st May Judging Yachts - middle category* Thursday 2nd May Judging Yachts - smaller category* Friday 3rd May Prize Giving ceremony *Exact size segments for each category (larger, middle & smaller) will be established later on, subject to registration demand.
THE COMPETITIONS Calling all Superyacht Chefs and Interior Crew to showcase their talent and skill by entering the MYBA Superyacht Chefs Competition to be held during the 31st MYBA Charter Show! Superyacht Chefs! With current trends, we see a lot of vegetarian and vegan charter clients and we wish to test your skills and creativity in creating a delicious vegetarian meal! Interior Staff, stewards and stewardesses! We would like to test you on your table service Skills and we would also like you to pair a wine with the main vegan course of the meal.
THE CHALLENGE FOR THE CHEFS To prepare a three-course vegetarian lunch as follows: First course: LACTO VEGETARIAN Main course: VEGAN Dessert: LACTO VEGETARIAN THE JUDGING CRITERIA Originality/creativity Taste/flavor Presentation Execution craft/technique
THE LOGISTICS FOR THE CHEFS’ COMPETITION Yacht chefs will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity, talent & knowledge in many areas by using fresh ingredients to prepare a vegetarian 3-course lunch with a lacto vegetarian starter and dessert and a vegan main course. All cooking and preparation is to be done onboard. Your helper may assist in plating and serving only. A total of 6 plates need to be prepared for each course, 5 for the judges to taste and 1 to be photographed. 6 copies of your menu must be provided, 1 for each judge and 1 for the table. Your competition meal can be served in the onboard location of your choice, dining saloon, aft deck, sun deck etc. All Chefs accepted into the competition must attend the Chefs’ Briefing Where they will be given the exact time the judges will come aboard. Your three courses must be served in the allotted time or you will be eliminated. Judges will be onboard for 30 minutes.
THE LOGISTICS FOR TABLE SERVICE & WINE PAIRING In addition to the Chefs’ Competition, there will be a Table Service Award for the best service in each category. You will also be asked to choose a wine and pair it with the main Vegan course and give an explanation of your choice. Once accepted into the competition you must attend the competition briefing with your Chef. JUDGING CRITERIA Standard of service Correct table setting Wine pairing experience
FAQs When do the competitions take place? The competitions take place over the first 3 days of the Show. How many yachts compete in each category? Only 10 yachts are accepted in each of the 3 categories. How are the participants selected? Acceptance is on a 1st come - 1st served basis, in each of the 3 categories. Who do I contact if I have any queries? Once you have received confirmation of your entry, please email sarah@mybashow.com if you have any questions. Who is eligible? As soon as a yacht signs up to attend the Show, the Chef is automatically eligible to register for the competition. Table Service and wine pairing entries will only be accepted if the yacht Chef has already entered.
