Meeting Objectives Our goal is to get you across the stage… This meeting will help you understand the steps that you need to take to make that happen. Cap and Gown Reminders Have you ordered your cap and gown unit? You must have it to participate in graduation. The unit can be ordered for $50. (cap, gown, tassel, diploma cover) If you already have a cap and gown, you must order your 2018 tassel and diploma cover. The cost is $18. The Josten’s representative will be in the CHS atrium during both lunches Thursday, May 10th for the final time. You should purchase your items from Ms. Ewing prior to this date, so you can pick them up on May 10th. Cash and checks are acceptable forms of payment. See Ms. Ewing with any questions.
Advanced Placement Exams If you are taking an AP class, and have NOT Pre-registered for the AP exam, you MUST see Mr. Wilkerson TODAY!
Senior Exam and Visitor Information May 22nd - 24th There will be TWO exams sessions PER DAY. You are expected to be on time. You will have two hours to complete your exam, unless a teacher has indicated to us it will take longer. The exam schedule is below. Session 1 Session 2 Date 9:00am-11:00am 11:15am-1:15pm Tues, May 22nd First exam Second exam Wed, May 23rd Third exam Fourth exam Thur, May 24th Fifth Exam Sixth exam If you have an exam for any class, you must take it Tuesday, 9:00 AM. All students with exams must come to the first exam session on Tuesday. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS IF YOU ARE TAKING AN SOL DURING EXAM TIME. **** Monday, May 21st is your official last day of school. You will be required to check in as a VISITOR for school entry after this date. A staff member will have to validate your appointment and location in the school. Violating this policy is trespassing and administration will handled as such.

CHS 2018 Graduate Picnic Wednesday - June 6, 2018 12:00pm to 2:00pm Come celebrate with your peers after graduation practice at the park! ALL Seniors are invited! See Mr. Deegan or Ms. Hollar for details. Meet us at the MCINTIRE PARK PAVILLION located by the Little League baseball field in the back of the park. Senior Clearance Wednesday - May 30, 2018 9:00am - 12:00pm ● Senior Clearance is the CHS method of outprocessing seniors. Students are expected to navigate this process in order to graduate. Enter the building through the MLKPAC doors. Seniors found in any other location of the building will be considered trespassing. ● Students with last names beginning in A-L will report to the small gym at 9:00am. ● Students with last names beginning in M-Z will report to the small gym at 10:30am. What to expect: ● Students will stop at 8 stations to outprocess before they will be awarded a clearance ticket from Ms. Ewing. ● There are no exceptions to this policy. Graduation Rehearsal Wednesday - June 6, 2018 10:00am - 11:00am ● Graduation rehearsal will be held at John Paul Jones Arena on Wednesday, June 6th, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am sharp. Please be at the arena by 9:45 am! ● Rehearsal attendance is MANDATORY if you intend to walk across the stage during the graduation ceremony. Bring your clearance ticket. ● Bus transportation will be provided for those desiring it. You must be prepared to depart from CHS at 9:20am. You may not enter the school building while waiting. The arena is on CAT Bus Route 7, if interested. ● Clearance Tickets are required for graduation rehearsal admittance.
Graduation Ceremony Thursday - June 7, 2018 7:00pm at JPJ Arena What to Expect All seniors participating in graduation must report to the JPJ Arena for line-up no later than 5:30pm. Be mindful of the new security measures and DO NOT BE LATE! Students who are late will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. What to Wear Female dress code Male dress code Black or brown shoes NOT over 3 inches high Black or brown dress shoes Semi-formal dress (nothing strapless) Solid colored button down dress shirt Pantsuit with jacket and matching pants Solid colored tie (preferred, not required) Skirt (no shorter than 1 inch above the knee) Solid dark long dress pants (black, charcoal with blouse gray, navy,brown or khaki) No mid-drift showing, leggings, flip flops, No polo shirts, boots, sneakers, flip flops or boots, or denim casual shoes * NO flip flops, sneakers, casual shoes, jeans, shorts, or leggings! *
Graduation Day Thursday - June 7, 2018 7:00pm at JPJ Arena What to Expect Graduation is a formal event. You will be expected to conduct yourselves accordingly. Failure to follow these rules will force us to dismiss you from participating in the ceremony. You must remain seated and quiet throughout the entire ceremony. ● NO gum, food, drinks, etc. ● You must be sober and compliant or you will be asked to leave the line. ● No beach balls, bubbles, horns, or any other distractible items will be allowed - have NOTHING in your hands - programs will be placed on your seats. New JPJ security policy will apply to you as graduates, so please plan ahead. ● No sunglasses or earbuds. ● Nothing -- including cell phones, or any thing else, are permitted on the arena floor.
Information For Graduates and Guests Thursday - June 7, 2018 7:00pm at JPJ Arena Event Information Your graduate must be at JPJ by 5:30pm. Free parking is available at the arena. Event tickets are NOT being issued this year. All invited guests are welcome to attend the ceremony. Family and guests are able to enter the arena between 6:00pm and 6:50pm. The ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00pm. JPJ security has restrictions regarding what is allowed in the arena. See the next page for details. Accessible Seating With respect, we recognize that there may be family members and/or guests who are unable to sit in the JPJ Arena seats for a variety of reasons. We will be able to accommodate these issues with reserved seating for people with special needs. An additional family member may be allowed to sit with your guest, depending on the number of people needing special seating. Photography There WILL NOT be an area by the stage for guests to take pictures in the JPJ Arena. Guests are encouraged to take pictures from their seats or after the ceremony. A professional photographer will be taking pictures of your graduate receiving their diploma. A flier is forthcoming; you can order your pictures online from LifeTouch. Guests We are making every effort to create an elegant, formal ceremony to celebrate this important commencement. Every graduate and their family has the right to hear their name called. Please encourage your guests to refrain from talking during speeches, to refrain from yelling out, to refrain from using sound makers or bells during the ceremony. We ask that you remain seated throughout the ceremony, because the ceremony is being recorded.. All guests are asked to turn off all cell phones. JPJ Arena employees reserve the right to remove disruptive attendees.
JPJ Security Information For Graduates and Guests Thursday - June 7, 2018 7:00pm at JPJ Arena John Paul Jones Arena Entry Procedures and Bag Policy Screening procedures are used at all entry gates to John Paul Jones Arena. Walk-through and hand wand metal detectors are the primary means of screening. For guests who are unable to utilize a walk-through metal detector, hand-held metal detectors will be used. ● Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and cannot exceed 12" x 6" x 12" or clear one-gallon plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar) are also permitted. ● Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand and no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" (with or without a handle or strap) can be taken into the stadium or arena and will be subject to search. ● An exception will be made for items necessary for medical reasons after proper inspections at a gate designated for this purpose. ● Items needed for small children must be in a clear bag that meet the stated dimensions. List of Prohibited Items:(Subject to change) • Bags or Backpacks larger than 12” x 12” x 6” – smaller bags must be clear/see through, with the exception of bags smaller than 4.5” x 6.5” (about the size of a hand) • Weapons, Fireworks or Confetti of any kind • Professional Cameras, Tablets or Computers • Aerosol containers • Umbrellas • Noisemakers or other distracting devices • Balls, Balloons, Frisbees, Sticks and similar items • Audio or Video Recording Devices • Outside Food and Beverage • Strollers • Containers, specifically including glass or plastic bottles, cans, coolers or flasks • Laser Pens/Pointers • Illegal Substances • Animals, except trained service animals • Signs, Flags and Banners of any kind
