Monday, May 10 BBQ Bash and Cornhole Tournament, Grand Opening of Employee Wellness Center We were excited to celebrate the beginning of Hospital Week with the opening of a Cornhole new benefit available to our coworkers! The Ozarks Healthcare Employee Wellness Tournament Center is a center where our coworkers can focus on taking care of their mental and Champions! physical health. Before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, a “Great Place to Work” team composed of Ozarks Healthcare coworkers focused on surveying the entire organization to provide statistical data on possible additions that could be made to the organization to emphasize employee wellness and satisfaction. Survey results showed an employee gym was among the top benefits preferred among coworkers. Due to COVID-19, the development of the Employee Wellness Center was paused. Construction was eventually resumed, and the Employee Wellness Center was officially revealed to coworkers Monday night. We appreciate the coworkers who came out to celebrate this grand opening! Left: Lindsey Thompson and Dr. Charles Morgan were our cornhole tournament champions!

We’ve asked some of our nurses to share a little about themselves with you. Cassie (Cassandra) Smotherman is an RN in Ozarks Healthcare’s Med/Surg Department: 1. Why did you choose nursing as a career? “I love to make a difference in people’s lives.” 2. What is a fun fact about yourself? “I love the country and the woods more than being in bigger towns or cities.” 3. What do you love most about your job? “I love that people get to leave better than when they came to our hospital and the compassion of my coworkers.” 4. What is something on your bucket list? “I’ve always wanted to go on a mission trip. I will have to wait until my kids are grown.” 5. If you could give any piece of advice to an aspiring nurse, what would it be? “Go for your goals. Nursing is hard, but it is very rewarding if you look at it that way. I know I do. Perspective is everything. Also, go above and beyond for your patients. You may be the only kind person in their time of need.” We are so proud of you and the care you show our patients, Cassie! Thank you for sharing your kind heart and attitude around our hospital!
