2 022 C A R LT O N C O R P O R A T E PA G E 2 6CARLTON RESPECTS Since 2016, the Carlton Football Club has made significant impact in the prevention of violence against women space via the development and delivery of the Carlton Respects initiative in schools, workplaces and the general community. 2022 will see the first full year of the Carlton Respects Digital Learning Platform to allow for rapid growth and uptake of the program across the state and country. The schools program continues to educate students aged between 10 and 14 years old on the importance of respectful relationships, equality and deconstructing gender stereotypes. The annual AFLW and AFL Carlton Respects Games will also continue for the fifth and seventh years respectively, bringing awareness to the social cause with players donning orange socks amongst a number of activations to spread the message of gender equality for the prevention of violence against women. As made clear by ‘Change the Story’, a shared framework for the primary prevention of violence against women and their children in Australia; “Gender inequality is the core of the problem and it is the heart of the solution.” After establishing a culture of belonging and unity, Carlton is well-placed to provide leadership to the community in this space. Featuring in the Club’s strategic plan, Carlton Respects aims to be the most influential gender equality program in Australian sport. 2 022 C A R LT O N C O R P O R A T E PA G E 2 8ADAM SAAD PATHWAYS The overarching aim of the Adam Saad Pathways is to create positive and healthy role models, both throughout the community and within respective households, by addressing disengaged youth and providing opportunities for participants to improve their skills, while also providing career pathways preparing them for the future. The Pathways program encompasses the Adam Saad Academy, which is an on and off-field multicultural academy and high- performance program, the Schools Cup that promotes physical activity, a capacity-building leadership day and a celebratory Ramadan dinner – all of which have been designed to welcome youth from different backgrounds and religions, seeking to assist participants to build the foundations required to lead successful lives.
