Residential park and village living is a very affordable option for retirees. Many are realising that residing in a residential park/ village is a sensible affordable alternative to high cost, high maintenance, isolated living in the old family home in the suburbs. Alternatively, if you are looking for a residential stay at a caravan park, there are a diverse range of caravan parks in regional locations that offer a mix of tourist and residential accommodation. Residential living options will vary considerably in these mixed parks. Manufactured Homes Insurance Agency (MHIA) offer competitive premiums to people who reside within residential home parks. They automatically include events like accidental damage and mechanical and electrical burnout – many insurers class these as additional options. MHIA also recognises that many people who reside in residential villages like to travel Australia and so they don’t penalise you for leaving your home for long periods of time. Check your insurance exclusions as many companies limit the length of time you can leave your home unattended. To contact MHIA call 1800 676 700.
