Dear Friends: It’s back to school time, the time of year which signals that fall and winter are not far behind. While it may depend on who you ask, we’ve always found that fall is one of the best times to visit our nine county parks. Where else you can see the change of seasons up close and personal? We have plenty of things for you to experience. From our annual Hay Day and Punkin Chunkin to Campfire Ghost Stories, we’ve got you covered for fall activities. We’re also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Latodami Nature Center. This well-kept secret in North Park will be celebrating on September 28th with history presentations, nature walks, and other festivities – all free of charge. As fall turns to winter, there will be plenty of opportunities to appreciate the outdoors – whether participating in ice hockey or ice skating, celebrating Snowfest, or skating with Parker the Chipmunk, there’s something for everyone. Along with those events and our annual favorites, there are several new activities too. Puppy Yoga was such a success that we’ve added Kitten Yoga to our schedule. You can also Ski with Santa, and girls can participate in a girls-only Ice Hockey Clinic. To take advantage of all these incredible opportunities, reserve a facility or shelter, or purchase a membership pass for our ski slopes or ice rinks, visit apm.activecommunities.com/alleghenyparks/, create an account, and begin making memories that will last a lifetime. And don’t miss all of the activities that our nine county parks and over 12,000 acres have to offer. Visit www.alleghenycountyparks.com frequently to learn about all of the offerings.
