Camp Brodie 2022 June 20th-August 12th TRADITIONAL CAMP BRODIE For Children Ages 5-12 Camp Brodie offers a fun-filled traditional summer camp option for children ages 5-12. Our campers become part of a dynamic camp family where they can explore nature, their artistic and athletic abilities, interact with friends they know, as well as make new friends, all while escaping the ever-growing technological age and rediscovering their inner child. Campers will participate in a variety of activities including art, field games, court games, hikes, beach time, cooking, scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, beach games, minute to win it contests, and more! Each week there are different themes to keep camp fun and interactive, as well as field trips and special guests to experience. Traditional Teen Program: This camp is designed for campers entering 6th grade or higher in order to get them out of the house, into nature & away from their “screens”. Days will be guided by the groups interests & will include larger scale camp activities. Counselor in Training (CIT) Option: Teens with a desire and passion for working with younger campers will be placed with the younger groups to be good role models and learn the duties and expectations of our counselors. Tiny Tots @ BRODIE For Children ages 3-4 Tiny Tot Adventures invites our youngest campers to join Camp Brodie from 9am-12pm. This program offers the same fun as Traditional Camp Brodie, but with a slower, more nurturing pace that is just right for their young bodies. They will explore nature, their artistic and athletic abilities, and make new friends. Campers will participate in a variety of activities- art, field games, court games, beach time and more! There will be quiet play time each day in our Tiny Tots cabin to give them a break from the sun when needed. Tiny Tots are invited to stay with a parent for special guests who arrive after pick up time. This program is for children who are 3 as of 12/31/2021. Exceptions for age will not be made.
Summer at a Glance... Week One Camp Camp June 20th-June 24th We are going to start summer off right by enjoying the great outdoors. Campers will participate in all of the timeless camp classics. Friendship bracelets, tie dye, scavenger hunts, campfires and so much s'more! Be sure to join in on the good old fashioned camp fun! Dress Up Day: Special Guest: Thursday, June 23rd Friday, June 24th Tie Dye Day Wildlife This week we will help Encounters campers to tie dye their The Wildlife own t shirt! On Thursday Encounters crew is they will be able to show visiting Camp Brodie off their creations! and they’ll be bringing along their furry, live animal ambassadors! Week Two Ahoy Brodie! June 27th-July 1st Ahoy Matey's it's time to set sail. This week campers will become pirates as we voyage across Brodie! We will hunt for buried treasure in our scavenger hunts and create our very own pirate ships. Shiver me timbers, this week is going to be a blast! Dress Up Day: Special Guest: Thursday, June 30th Friday, July 1st Pirate Dress up Day Foam Party Yo ho! Yo ho! A pirate's CT Party Troupe will be life for me. Grab your eye visiting and they are bringing lots of (Kid patch and hat it's time to safe) foam! They blast show off your best pirate kid-friendly dance outfit. No landlubbers music, toss out allowed! inflatable toys, and let the kids take it from there!
Week Three Holiday Hoopla July 5th-July 8th Oh say can you see all the fun we are going to have this week! We will start the week off with some fourth of July activities. As the week goes on we will do other holiday themed activities and arts and crafts. Campers also will get to participate in our annual color run! Camp Brodie will bring a little bit of the holiday spirit into the summertime! Dress Up Day: Special Guest: Thursday, July 7th Friday, July 8th Holiday Dress Up Fire Trucks Day Some of our local Dress up in an outfit that heroes will be stopping celebrates your favorite by camp this Friday holiday. Christmas, and they will be Halloween, Fourth of bringing their fire July etc. We can't wait to trucks! It will be a see all of the holiday blast. cheer. Week Four Disney Week July 11th- July 15th This week Brodie will be transforming into the most magical place on earth! We will have crafts and activities based on all your favorite Disney movies. From Disney themed slime to designing a race car to enter into the Piston Cup there are a lot of fun things happening this week. Remember, if you can dream it you can do it! Dress Up Day: Special Guest: Thursday, July 14th Friday, July 15th Disney Dress up Day Magic Show Mirabel, Buzz Lightyear, During this interactive Spiderman, who knows show campers will who else we will see. Week Five Versus Week July 18th-July 22nd On your mark, get set, go! This week we will participate in a friendly competition. Campers will be split into teams. Each day there will be a chance for teams to earn points. The team with the most points at the end of the week wins! We will play soccer, capture the flag, minute to win it and many other activities. On Friday we will even have a big championship game! May the best team win! Campers will have to sneak through mazes, decode secret messages and complete escape rooms. Do you have what it takes to complete this top secret mission? Dress Up Day: Special Guest: Thursday, July 28th Friday, July 29th Disguise Dress Up TBD Every spy needs a good Spies don't give away all their disguise! This week your secrets! task is to dress up so that you are unrecognizable. Hats, wigs, sunglasses and fake mustaches! Whatever it takes to complete your mission.
Week Seven Brodie 3000 August 1st-August 5th Charge up your flux capacitors because this week we are traveling through time. Campers will start off the week yabba dabba doing cavemen and dinosaur crafts/activities. Then we will hop in our Deloreans and blast off to the future. Join us as we have decades worth of fun in only one week! Dress Up Day: Special Guest: Thursday, August 4th Friday, August 5th Decades day Wildlife Encounters Where would you go if Dragons?! No, not real you could travel through dragons ~ Lizards! Meet time? This week campers many different species of will get to dress up in a lizards: skinks with bright costume from their blue tongues, a cousin of favorite decade. the Komodo Dragon, and a snake - with claws?! Meet these and many more as we venture into the realm of living dragons. Week Eight Brodie Bonanza August 8th- August 12th Join in on the fun as we wrap up the summer with our big finale! We will be ending the summer with a blast by having our annual lip sync battle and award ceremony celebrating all of our kindest campers and counselors! On Friday, we will have an end of the summer cookout with burgers, hot dogs, and our awesome special guest! 2022 Camp Brodie Registration TO REGISTER FOR CAMP ONLINE: Go to : https://newhartfordrec.recdesk.com/ Create an account or login. Select programs and register. Mail a check or pay online with a credit card. TO REGISTER IN PERSON OR BY MAIL: Fill out the Camp Brodie Registration Form, a signed 2022 Camp Brodie Policies & Release Form and a Camp Selection form (one per child). Submit 50% of the first week’s fee. (Remainder is payable in full the Friday before the camp session. A $25 convenience fee will be applied if full amount is not paid by the Friday before the camp session.) A current health form signed by your child’s doctor indicating a physical was performed within the past 3 years. If your child attended camp last year, we may have one on file. Please call to verify! 2022 Camp Brodie Policies & Release Form: What to bring with you: Optional: What not to bring: Backpack Spare outfit Electronics (iPods, handheld games, Lunch & Snack Sweatshirt/ rain jacket etc.) Water bottle Hat/ sunglasses Sandals/flip flops Sneakers/ closed toe shoes Swim goggles Over the counter medication Bathing suit & towel Money for the snack shack Water guns (we will let you know Sunscreen & Bug-spray about special days for these!) Card Games (Including Pokémon type cards) Camp runs rain or shine. Times vary depending on the camp chosen. Drop off is no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of a camp and pick up is no later than 15 minutes after the listed time. Additional fees will be applied if your child is in attendance beyond their registered time. Your child must be provided with a bag lunch (with an ice pack if necessary), snacks appropriate for the time they will be in attendance at camp and a water bottle. Bottles may be refilled with water at any time during the day. Please dress your child in his/her bathing suit with appropriate clothing over it. A change of clothing is recommended, along with a sweatshirt and hat. Campers MUST wear closed-toe shoes. Sneakers are recommended. Parents/guardians will be called to bring in closed toe shoes if the camper does not arrive with them on. Please apply sunscreen and bug-spray prior to camp. Staff cannot apply these to your child, but they may carry and self- apply as needed. Water activities & swimming will be a regular part of camp. Campers that are entering 4 th grade and are at least 9 years old will have the opportunity to take a “dock test”. If they pass it, they will be allowed to swim to the dock during camp swim time if they choose. Food may be served at camp as part of our special activities. Please BE SURE you have allergies listed on your child’s registration and medical forms. If you don’t wish your child to participate in food activities, make sure you have clearly indicated specific instructions. Photos and videos of your child may be taken during camp. You agree to allow these to be used in publications unless otherwise noted. Unruly behavior on the part of your camper may result in removal from an activity, the group, or being sent to the camp office. Depending on the severity of the offense, you may be contacted for pickup without refund. If your child requires any medications including an EpiPen, you MUST contact the Camp Office (860) 379-3877. All medications and doctor singed authorizations MUST be given to the camp nurse for approval. A health form signed by a doctor must be provided or your child will not be allowed to attend camp. A camp health form is preferred, but a standard school medical form will also be accepted. Physicals must have taken place within the past 3 years. I understand that there is a possibility that my child could sustain injuries while engaging in camp activities. In case of emergency where a family member cannot be reached, I authorize the attending Emergency Department physician to treat my child. I also understand that my own medical insurance will be used in the event of an emergency. I agree to hold harmless the town of New Hartford, the Park and Recreation Department, its officers, sponsors, agents, employees and anyone else associated with the program. For the safety and wellness of all campers, NHR reserves the unrestricted right to dismiss a camper whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the Camp Director, is detrimental to the best interests of the camp or other campers. There are no refunds if a camper is dismissed for this reason.
