The great news is that Aucklanders are getting on their bikes. • Queen Street to Symonds Street: » Extension of the existing ‘no stopping’ broken yellow lines on the southern (cemetery) side of Karangahape Road. • 3.77 million bike trips in the 12 months up to June 2019, an increase of 8.9% » A cycleway on both sides of Karangahape Road. • 272,000 bike trips in June 2019, an increase of 16.7% on last year • Upper Queen Street • Bikes trips on Upper Queen St increased 53.1% on last year » A separated cycleway will connect to the network of existing and planned cycleways. • 36% of people riding or scootering into the city centre travel via Upper Queen St » The cycleway on Upper Queen Street is designed for flexibility in the event of Light Rail construction. • Daily bike trips on the Northwestern Cycleway increased by 46% on last year Cycleways that separate people on bikes from general traffic are the most effective way to increase the number of people riding WHO IS DELIVERING THE PROJECT? bikes. Since the Nelson Street cycleway and the Lightpath opened, the number of daily cycle trips on Nelson Street has increased by 905%. The Karangahape Road Streetscape Enhancement project is a joint project between Auckland Transport and Auckland Council. Auckland Transport has appointed John Fillmore Contractors Ltd (JFC) to deliver the construction programme. JFC has been behind the construction, restoration and transformation of some of Auckland’s most loved spaces including Federal St, Aotea Square, Freyberg Place and Auckland War Memorial Museum. During the project JFC will answer any construction related queries. 1 2
PARKING AND SERVICING OPTIONS FOR CUSTOMERS AND STAFF PUBLIC TRANSPORT CHANGES DURING CONSTRUCTION Over the construction period there will be some changes to bus routes and stops along and around Karangahape Rd. Plan your travel. For the most up-to-date information on public transport changes please visit the Auckland Transport website: www.at.govt.nz/bus-train-ferry/service-announcements/roadworks-affecting-public-transport/ GIVE PUBLIC TRANSPORT A GO Auckland Transport and the KBA want to help you find new ways to get to work. People who currently drive to work in the Karangahape Road precinct may be eligible for a free two-week public transport trial. Auckland Transport staff will be available at a number of the weekly drop in sessions at Blackboard Cafe to help you make the best use of our Journey Planning app. https://at.govt.nz/journeyplanner Keep an eye on the JFC communications to find out when Auckland Transport staff will be attending the drop-in sessions at Blackboard Cafe. OUTDOOR DINING LICENSE SUPPORT In support of the Karangahape Road Streetscape Enhancements project, Auckland Council’s Street Trading team will be providing businesses their outdoor dining licence rental fees free for 6 months for the year. The Street Trading team will alter these costs as part of the renewal notices issued to businesses. For further information, please contact the Auckland Council Street Trading team at streettrading@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz The KBA has been working closely with Auckland Council and Auckland Transport during the planning stages of these projects and both organisations have given additional funding to the KBA to provide businesses with support services above and beyond what we can normally provide. This map shows the current parking as at September 2019. This will change as the construction work moves along the street and JFC will be contacting businesses individually regarding any changes in loading around their area. 3 4

ABOUT US - KBA SERVICES The K’ Road Business Association (KBA) is an incorporated society whose aim is to foster the economic development of the Karangahape Road precinct. It does this through delivering a comprehensive programme of marketing, events, networking opportunities and advocacy to local bodies. It is a partner with Auckland Council in its city-wide Business Improvement Programme (BID Programme) and derives income from a separate rate which is collected by the council from business and property owners within its precinct boundary and returned to the KBA. It is governed by an executive committee and a constitution outlining its rules of operation. Services offered to members include: • Promotion through an annual programme of marketing and events • Business workshops and networking opportunities • Advocacy to local bodies over major works planned for the precinct • Advocacy to local bodies over issues relating to service provision • Free listing on the KBA website • Access to real time pedestrian counts and quarterly retail spending reports • Regular updates on news and activities in the precinct • A point of contact for general business enquiries relating to the precinct • A day security foot patrol between 10am – 6pm • A night security mobile patrol on Friday and Saturday nights from 10pm – 3am augmented by a Barwatch service from 10pm – 4am which connects the doormen of licensed premises to each other through a network of RT’s, to a coordinator and to the police District Command Centre
