Business Delegation to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Be’er Sheva 2–6 June 2018 Osnabrück Emsland Grafschaft Bentheim
2|3 Boom Region Osnabrück - Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim The Osnabrück-Emsland-Grafschaft Bentheim region lies in Northwestern Germany, and for many years has been one of the country’s areas enjoying the strongest economic growth. Above all, it is exports which drive this important growth. The unemployment rate, for example, is only 3.7 percent and thus stands – in comparison to the overall German average (5.3 %) – at an extraordinarily low level. While the region is characterized by great industrial diversity, the food industry, vehicle manufacture and mechanical engineering, and the metals industries are particularly strongly represented. In addition, the logistics sector and increasingly, the services sector are drivers of economic development. The region also boasts a training quota which is well above average. In June 2016, five percent of all regional employees were involved in dual vocational training in the wide variety of professions which make Germany the envy of much of the world: the highest training rate in the entire country. This success is no coincidence. Companies make good use of the region’s advantages. They profit from the wide offering of qualified specialists, from low location costs, good transport connections, and an above-average amount of available commercial space. Getting to know us better is worthwhile. We look forward to meeting you!

Head of Delegation Wolfgang Griesert Lord Mayor of the City of Osnabrück Osnabrück is known for being the city where the Peace of Westphalia was signed. The Peace of Westphalia, which was declared on the steps of the town hall in Osnabrück in 1648, laid the initial foundations for a European community of states. The culture of remembrance is another important part of Osnabrück’s identity as a city of peace. It is supported by institutions such as the Felix Nussbaum House and the Erich Maria Remarque Archive, as well as many action groups. Companies in Osnabrück have continuously expanded their business relationships with international partners. This is a very important factor in the international development of Osnabrück’s economy and represents the core of further development of relations, the establishment of new contacts and the strengthening of cooperation.
