➢ New – Media
o Dr. Susan Kahn on CBC-Radio Yesterday Quebec reported its first case of thrombosis in
reaction to the AstraZeneca vaccine. In an interview on CBC-Radio, Dr. Susan Kahn,
Director of the Centre for Excellence in Thrombosis and Anticoagulation Care (CETAC) at
the JGH, affirms that despite this case, she feels confident recommending the vaccine to
patients and others who may be concerned about it. She also points out that the risk of
getting a blood clot from COVID-19 is far greater than the risk associated with the vaccine.
o Le Devoir. 130 jours pour vaincre la COVID (French) Suzy Makengo Ndelo spent 130 days in
Intensive Care at the JGH, where she survived a very severe case of COVID-19after losing
the strength to walk, contracting C. difficile, and even temporarily losing her memory.
While her case illustrates the quality of care provided by the hospital, it also demonstrates
that admitting new patients with COVID-19 can cause a hospital to falter, given the
amount of human and material resources required to ensure the survival of a single
              patient.
o JGH News: On its fifth anniversary, Pavilion K emerges as the silent hero of the pandemic
It’s being called the JGH’s silent hero of the pandemic: Pavilion K is celebrating its fifth
anniversary by exceeding expectations as a critical-care wing. Negative-pressure rooms,
ultra-modern ventilation, natural light, spaciousness and many other features have all
been vital in the treatment of COVID-19 patients over the past year.
o Interview on Agence Science Presse: Caregivers and COVID-19 Sophie Éthier, researcher at
CREGÉS in our CIUSSS, and Magalie Dumas, Deputy Director-General of L'Appui pour les
proches aidants, discuss how family caregivers have been affected by the pandemic and
              the problems it causes.
o Dr. Karl Weiss interviewed on 98.5 FM answers questions onthe vaccination campaign, the
presence of variants in schools, and the impact of these two factors in the fight against
              COVID-19.
o 360° Newsletter: A shot of optimism: What it feels like to give the COVID-19 vaccine
Hundreds of CIUSSS staffers and recruits are stepping up to take part in the historic COVID-
19 vaccination campaign. More than just delivering doses of vaccine, they’re offering a jab
              of hope.
o Interview with Dr. Karl Weiss on Noovo. Dr. Karl Weiss answers questions about relaxing
the COVID-19 rules in Quebec, the vaccination campaign, and more.
