COPA FLIGHT 160 BBQ FLY-IN BACK ON TRACK

The Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Pilots and Hangar Owners As-
sociation (APPH-YJN) hosted its traditional BBQ fly-in on
August 7, 2021. As many groups started to plan events in
August, some out of their normal time frame, COPA Flight
160 was right on schedule for its annual fly-in.
  Weather forecasts were a factor for some, as visitors came
by both air and land, but the meeting was a success with
packed tables of people enjoying hot dogs and corn on the
cob. A few special planes were on display which had visitors
talking about past and future aerial adventures.
  COPA treasurer Jonathan Beauchesne was on hand to pres-
ent APPH President Normand Prenoveau with the 2021 COPA
Director’s Award (pictured below, right): “In appreciation for
your personal efforts to advance, promote and preserve our

                                                reluctantly than others. When the opportunity came
                                                up to teach PPL ground school modules, which I had
                                                not taught before outside of the context of the Civil
                                                Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA), the
                                   challenge was irresistible. As it turns out, the amount of prepa-
                                   ration required to be reasonably sure of correct answers to any
                                   potential question is huge. Weather, for example, is an amaz-
                                   ing area of study with mountains of data, observations and re-
                                   search. Yet, despite all we know, there are virtually infinite vari-
                                   ables that make totally accurate predictions impossible. Still,
                                   we have access to so much information and sophisticated anal-
                                   ysis that we can leave the ground substantially more prepared
                                   than early aviators ever could.
