Point-to-Point link: Typically provided to customers in very remote areas or customers that require a service greater than 20Mb/s Point-to-Multipoint: Multiple remote sites connect to a single Base Station which is connected to the Vodacom Network (maximum distance from a Base Station = 4km). Typical rates include 5Mb/s, 10Mb/s and 20Mb/s. Figure 1: Point to Point Topology Figure 2: Point to Multipoint Topology The purpose of this document is to introduce the system to the customer and landlords to provide clarity on exactly what Customer Premise Equipment will be installed on their property. Request for Occupation 2 CUSTOMER PREMISE EQUIPMENT (CPE) The installation will consist of indoor and outdoor installations as set out below. Outdoor Equipment Radio with Integrated Antenna Lightning Protection Unit IFL Cable Indoor Equipment PoE 220V HG 659 Router AC outlet Figure 3: Broadband Connect Wireless Customer Premise Equipment 2.1 Indoor Equipment The indoor installation requires access to the customer’s server room or office where the following equipment can be either securely placed or mounted: 2.1.1 Radwin 5000 PoE device (Power over Ethernet) The PoE device is a 100BaseT/GbE interface for RADWIN radios (incl. AC power feeding). Figure 4: Indoor Equipment (PoE) C1 - Unclassified Page 3 of 10 Request for Occupation_BroadbandConnectWireless_Final 121114Final
Request for Occupation Installation: No mounting required, only secure and safe placement. 2.1.2 HG659 Home Gateway Product (Router) The HG659 is a next generation voice gateway that supports very-high-data-rate digital subscriber line type-2 (VDSL2) uplink, one Giga Ethernet uplink port and 4 Giga Ethernet downlink ports. The HG659 is designed for voice over broadband (VoBB) users, mid-range and high-end users using voice over IP (VoIP) and high bandwidth services, such as high density (HD) video. Dimensions (LxWxH): 240mm x 185mm x 37mm. Figure 7: HG659 Router The HG659 performs the following functions: Acts as the Gateway for the customer LAN to assess the Vodacom network. Routes traffic to and from the Internet/Corporate HQ. Figure 8: Networking diagram of the HG659 Installation: C1 - Unclassified Page 4 of 10 Request for Occupation_BroadbandConnectWireless_Final 121114Final
Request for Occupation No mounting is required, only secure and safe placement on a desk or appropriate surface close to where the PoE is installed. 2.2 Inter Facility Link (IFL) Cabling The indoor equipment is connected to the Outdoor equipment via Inter Facility Link (IFL) cabling. All IFL cabling between the ODU and the PoE will be UV protected CAT5e cabling. Figure 9: Inter Facility Cable Should a suitable entry to the building or room not be available, the installation team will need to drill a single 6mm hole through the exterior wall of the building to pass the IFL through to the indoor equipment. 2.3 Outdoor Equipment The outdoor installation requires access to the customer’s roof to mount the integrated antenna at the best possible position where clear Line of Site (LOS) was established / confirmed to the nearest Vodacom Base Station during a scheduled site survey. Any LOS obstruction whatsoever, such as trees, building etc. will cause severe signal loss which may cause the link to fail. The roof should also have secure anchoring points where the installation team can anchor themselves during installation in order to adhere to the required Health & Safety regulations specified for working at heights. 2.3.1 RADWIN HSU 500 Series Subscriber Unit Radio with Integrated Antenna The RADWIN HSU 500 Series provides high capacity access connectivity of up to 5 Mbps, 10Mbps or 25Mbps net aggregate throughput depending on the service contract signed with Vodacom. The HSU is also referred to as the Outdoor Unit (ODU). Dimensions (LxWxH): 241mm x 195mm x 83mm. C1 - Unclassified Page 5 of 10 Request for Occupation_BroadbandConnectWireless_Final 121114Final
Request for Occupation Figure 10: Outdoor Equipment Subscriber Unit (HSU) Installation: The ODU can be mounted on a pole or a wall and must be properly grounded. In both installations, the supplied mounting kit is used to secure the ODU. 2.3.1.1 Mounting options The outdoor equipment can either be mounted directly to the building using a wall mount bracket or by means of a 1.5m (500mm diameter) extension pole. Both methods will require the installation team to drill four attachment holes in the exterior wall of the building. NOTE: It is important not to mount the antenna where there is a possibility of human or vehicle traffic in front of the antenna. A. Mounting Radwin Radio on a Mast/Pole Figure11: Pole mount option of HSU In cases where the building height is insufficient to provide clear LOS to the Vodacom Base station, the installation team will have to install an extension pole to achieve clear LOS. The extension pole is a 1.5m long, 50mm diameter pipe that will be secured to the C1 - Unclassified Page 6 of 10 Request for Occupation_BroadbandConnectWireless_Final 121114Final

Mounting Radwin Radio on a Wall Figure 12: Wall mount option of HSU Figure 13: Wall mount Arm The wall mount bracket is secured to the building using four screw hex head M8x40mmm bolts. 2.3.2 Lightning Protection Unit (LPU) The PoE surge protector is a device that minimize the risk of damage due to lightning strikes (incl. 0.5m CAT5e cable and wall/pole mounting kit). Figure 5: Lightning Protection Unit (LPU) Installation: The LPU will be mounted outdoor as close as possible to the inlet hole of the site/facility where the PoE is installed. A Wall Mounting Unit will be used to firmly secure the LP Unit on the site/facility wall and ground the LPU using the GND screw. The other end of the LPU is connected with a short CAT‐5e cable to the PoE. C1 - Unclassified Page 7 of 10 Request for Occupation_BroadbandConnectWireless_Final 121114Final
