Dear OSU Alumni and Friends: Jack the Ripper’s brutal murders in 1888. The investigations of Sherlock Holmes. The mayhem created by the Kray Twins in East London in the 1950s and ’60s. The efforts of Tom and John Barnaby to solve the grisly deaths in Midsomer Murders. England is the location of unforgettable true crimes as well as the fictional setting for mystery novels and television dramas, often based on real events. Join us in March of 2020 to investigate England’s dark side on a journey that focuses on infamous murder cases in London and beyond. Begin in the British capital, where we will explore the life of Jack the Ripper, enjoy a special walking tour about the notorious East London Gangsters, and visit museums including the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Accommodations for four nights are at the centrally located Courthouse Hotel, situated in what was once a magistrates’ court. Continue to Oxford, where we will spend two nights in the Malmaison Oxford, a former prison that is now an elegant hotel. Our group will enjoy a private murder mystery dinner and also see locations where detective shows and crime dramas including Midsomer Murders and Inspector Morse were filmed. Enjoy the camaraderie of traveling with other true-crime enthusiasts as well as free time to explore London and Oxford on your own. You may also wish to experience London’s world-famous theater during an optional performance of a show such as The Woman in Black, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, or The Mousetrap (subject to scheduling). Space on this small group tour is limited, so make your reservation today.
