Lots 1 and 2 – lowest first bid for each to be £150
Two fantastic day-long Hill Climbing Experiences at the famous Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb
Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb in Worcestershire is the world’s oldest motorsport venue still operating. You take part in your
own road car and your day includes theoretical and practical tuition by experts, meals and refreshments throughout the
day, eight runs on the Course and a certificate to mark your achievement! Although booked for use on 19th May 2020
(from 09.00 to 17.00), this amazing experience is transferable to an alternative date as necessitated by Coronavirus.

Set within 10,000 acres of ancient woodland where deer roam free, the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club
in Maxstoke Lane, Meriden offers an unforgettable experience. This lot provides the opportunity to play on the
acclaimed Aylesford Resort Course. Many other facilities at the Country Club will be available on the day at the Club’s
normal rates and subject to its regulations. The club’s superb facilities include the putting green, driving range, spa,
fitness centre and heated indoor pool.

A signed Irish Rugby Union Jersey
We are advised that this jersey, kindly donated by Canterbury, was signed by the
Ireland Six Nations Squad in January 2020
Lot 5 – current highest bid is £200, lowest next bid to be £250
A signed British and Irish Lions Jersey
This jersey is almost unique as only one other exists! It carries the signatures of Rugby Legends Sir Gareth Edwards,
Derek Quinnell, Peter Wheeler, Terry Cobner, Gerald Davies, Tony Neary and Martin Johnson. It was signed at the
Celebration Dinner commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Sam Doble Memorial Match in The Reddings Suite on
Thursday 23rd November 2017, organised by Moseley Players Association.
The jersey is believed to be from the New Zealand tour of 2017.
Lot 6 – current highest bid is £100, lowest next bid to be £125
A signed and framed photograph on canvas of South African star Bryan Habana
Bryan Habana is one of the greatest Rugby Union wings of all time. Capped by South Africa 124 times, he scored 335
points in test matches. He was in the World Cup winning team of 2007, when he equalled Jonah Lomu’s record of 8 tries
in a World Cup and was the IRB’s Player of the Year. He was in the 2009 Springboks’ Tri Nations Championship winning
team and the 2011 World Cup and, in the 2015 Tournament, he equalled Lomu’s World Cup record of 15 tries. 51 x 31.
Lot 7 – lowest first bid to be £100
Framed photographs, both signed, of Dan Carter and Richie McCaw
Richie McCaw ONZ was the first All Black to reach 100 caps and the first player to win 100 tests. He is the most capped
player in rugby union history with 148 and was the All Blacks’ Captain in 110 of them. He played flanker, mainly open
side, and also no. 8. He won the IRB World Rugby Player of the Year award three times, a record held jointly with Dan
Carter. In 2016, he was appointed a member of New Zealand's highest honour, the Order of New Zealand, of which only
twenty living New Zealanders can gain membership at any one time. For Dan Carter, see Lot 10 below. 46 x 63.

A historic signed & framed montage of photographs of the England World Cup team of 1966
It may be about Soccer rather than Rugby Union but this must still be a fabulous genuine Collector’s item, which is sure
to be cherished by its new owner. No less than six photos of the action on and off the field plus the central team photo
signed by Nobby Stiles, Roger Hunt, Gordon Banks, Jack Charlton, George Cohen, Ray Wilson, Martin Peters,
Sir Geoff Hurst and Sir Bobby Charlton. 87 x 67.
Lot 9 – lowest first bid to be £50
A signed and framed photograph of some of the 2013 British & Irish Lions squad in Australia
For the record, The Lions won the Test series 2–1, the results being (Lions first) 23–21, 15–16, 41–16. This was the Lions'
first test series win since defeating South Africa in 1997. Aside from the second test, the Lions' only loss was 12–14 to
the Brumbies in Canberra. Warren Gatland was Head Coach and Sam Warburton Tour Captain. Pictured left to right are
Manu Tuilagi, Geoff Parling, Dan Cole, Graham Rowntree, Tom Youngs, Tom Croft and Ben Youngs. 40 x 50.
Lot 10 – lowest first bid to be £100
A signed and framed photograph of New Zealand All Black Dan Carter
Dan Carter ONZM played for the New Zealand All Blacks 112 times, winning 99 with one drawn. He scored 29 tries and a
total of 1598 points. He is the highest points scorer in test match rugby and was named the IRB Player of the Year in
2005, 2012 and 2015 (equalling the record three awards of Richie McCaw). He won nine Tri-Nations and Rugby
Championships with the All Blacks and is considered by many as the greatest ever fly half. He was appointed an Officer
of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to rugby in 2016. 42 x 34.

Lot 13 – lowest first bid to be £100
A Round of Golf for four on the superb course of the Copt Heath Golf Club
Copt Heath Golf Club in Knowle, Solihull is recognised as one of the foremost clubs in the Midlands. Its course has been
voted one of the top 100 in the country and the clubhouse is the envy of many other clubs. The variety of its holes
provides both a test for strong players and pure fun for the less able. The voucher is valid until 31st December 2021 and
excludes weekends. Participating players must have a valid handicap and should observe the club’s dress code.

A signed and framed Gareth Barry England Football shirt
Gareth Barry won 53 caps for England from 2000 and was Captain in a 2010 friendly against Egypt. He scored three goals
for England and was included in the England squads at the UEFA Euro 2000 Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He played
for Aston Villa for twelve years, being Captain for some and is eighth in their all-time list of appearances, with 441 across
all competitions, including 365 in the Premier League. Since 2017, he has played for West Bromwich Albion. 68 x 76.

A Fiji international jersey signed by current BMRC player Ravai Fatiaki
Current Birmingham Moseley Centre or Fly Half Ravai Fatiaki has generously signed and donated this Fiji international
jersey. Ravai has been with the club for two seasons and did much to keep the Club in National One both times. He also
plays regularly for the British Army and has been capped eight times by Fiji, including at the 2011 World Cup.
Lot 16 – lowest first bid to be £200
A 2019 World Rugby International Referee’s jersey signed by Wayne Barnes
The refereeing career of Wayne Barnes, World Rugby Referee of the Year for 2019, has been remarkable and, in many
ways, unique. During his 14 years of international refereeing, there have been numerous appointments for top class
matches when he was the youngest ever for such an appointment. In 2014, he became the most capped English referee
of all time. At RWC 2015, he joined an elite group who have refereed at three Rugby World Cups and, during the
tournament, became the most capped RWC referee, having refereed 15 matches over the three tournaments. He was
to be BM’s guest speaker at our cancelled lunch in March, but we look forward to welcoming him to the Club in 2021.
Please note that no bids will be accepted after 6.00 pm on Sunday 31st May 2020 and that…
1. To assist bidders, the overall measurements of the framed items Lots 6 to 10 inclusive and Lot 14 appear above in
centimetres with the height first. There are 2.54 centimetres to one inch.
2. All items are offered subject to undisclosed reserve prices. Subject to the agreement of their donors, any unsold
items will be retained for future sale at a Club public event.
3. Changes from the original auction details are that bidder numbers and individual bid sheets are no longer required.
See below for how to bid.
4. For the Club’s protection, the ‘Rules of the BMRC On Line Auction’ have been retained and can be viewed on the
Club website. On receipt of each bidder’s first bid, a copy will be emailed to the bidder, who will be deemed to have
read, understood and accepted them unless the Auctioneer is advised to the contrary.
5. The Auctioneer has fixed the lowest acceptable first bid for each lot after consultation with others, if appropriate.
He will decide the lowest acceptable subsequent incremental bids to ensure that they are realistic and avoid bidding
from continuing in unrealistic or unreasonably small amounts.
6. The catalogue will not show changes to the bidding. Separately, the website (www.moseleyrugby.co.uk – News) will
show the current highest bid and lowest next bid, or lowest first bid as appropriate, against each lot number. The
list will be updated as often as necessary to reflect the current bidding position for every lot. It will also appear on
the message board (https://moseleysupporters.proboards.com/ – Events).
7. Donations of any additional items for the auction may be added to the catalogue at the discretion of the Auctioneer.
How to bid at the BMRC On Line Auction
1. Check the highest bid and the lowest acceptable next bid or, for a lot for which no bid has been made, the lowest
acceptable first bid, before bidding.
2. In order of preference, (i) email the Auctioneer Peter Veitch (PV) – pv@investabroadproperties.com – or (ii) text PV
on 07801 800201 or (iii) call PV on (0121) 449 3710 with the bid details. See (14) below for the credentials of PV.
3. PV requires the following for each bid: name of bidder, lot number, description of the lot as it appears immediately
above the photograph of the lot, amount of the bid and all the bidder’s contact details.
4. All bids must be made in Pounds Sterling (GBP) unless otherwise agreed with PV. Any bids submitted in a different
currency without such agreement will be deemed invalid.
5. Bids below the published lowest first bid or lowest next bid, as applicable, will be regarded as invalid and the bidder
concerned will be advised accordingly.
6. As soon as possible following receipt of each bid, PV will confirm by email, or as otherwise agreed with the bidder,
the bid details, including the identity of the lot to ensure that the lot number provided was the correct one.
7. At the same time but only following receipt of the first bid from each bidder, PV will also email (only) the ‘Rules of
the BMRC On Line Auction’ and state that the bidder has accepted these unless PV is advised to the contrary by
return. Should email not be available to the bidder, he or she will be asked to read them on the Club website and
then confirm to PV by other means that they are accepted.
8. As soon as possible after receipt of a bid that exceeds the previous highest bid for any lot, PV will advise the bidder
of the previous highest bid of the new highest bid and the lowest acceptable subsequent incremental bid.
9. At or as close as possible to (7) above, PV will arrange for the list of lot numbers, highest bids and lowest acceptable
incremental bids to be updated on the Club website and message board.
10. As soon as possible after bids close at 6.00 pm on Sunday 31st May, PV will inform all who submitted the highest
bids of their success and remind them of the payment and collection arrangements as set out in the ‘Rules of the
BMRC On Line Auction’.
11. Should the highest bid be less than the undisclosed reserve, PV will advise the bidder accordingly and invite the
bidder to match the reserve, this not being regarded as a bid after the closing time. If the bidder is not willing to do
so, the same offer will be made to the second highest bidder. If that is refused, the lot concerned will be withdrawn.
12. If two or more bidders have made the same equally highest bid for a lot when bids close, PV will inform the bidders
concerned and invite them (and only them) to submit their highest and final bid, without reference to any stated
minimum incremental bid, within 24 hours, this process being repeated as necessary until a single winning bid has
been made.
13. As Lots 1 and 2 are identical, any bidder wishing to bid for one of the two Hill Climbing Experiences at Shelsley
Walsh Hill Climb should bid for Lots 1 and 2. The bidder making the second highest bid will be deemed to have made
the winning bid for Lot 2. If two or more bidders have made the same equal second highest bid, the outcome will be
determined as for (12) above.
14. The bidding process will be handled by the Auctioneer appointed by BMRC. He is Peter Veitch FRICS, a qualified
Chartered Auctioneer, whose contact details are pv@investabroadproperties.com or land line 0121 449 3710 or
mobile (which needs time to answer due to a poor signal) 07801 800201.
15. All decisions by the Auctioneer are final, whether made solely by him or after consultation with one or more
directors, officials or employees of BMRC.
